Something different for a change.

We spend alot of time debating game mechanics and flavour, so for something different i'd thought it would be interesting to sketch out to the community the favourite Darksun character you played, why it was so fun to play and how that character ended up. More focus on the role-playing aspects than the levels / power. Why? because it's something different :D

My favorite character was 'Draconis'. He started as a 2e character. The first Dracanonian, a failed experiment to accelerate a blue dragon egg to full-form lead to his creation. Shunned by his later brethren (dervied from good dragon eggs) but intensley loyal to his Queen, he was eventually hurtled to Athas in a magical explosion that killed the rest of his party on Krynn. He was a low-level black-robe / cleric of Tahikis, very spritiual and loyal to her, played him as a quiete, unassuming character. Always looking to advance his Queens cause rather than his own, wich is what set him apart from his fellow draconians, and eventually led to being put onto a (supposedly) sucicde mission.

New campain, on athas started with 3e rules. Spends several months recuperating on Athas with a tribe of Pterrans and a Human Preserver / Druid (rest of the groups new characters). He was very, very vunerable without magic, and spent many months trying to convert the tribe to worship his Queen. Eventually, through many adventures, his changed alignment (to eventually NG) and died protecting his adopted tribe from a Necromancer that had learnt of his existance, and wanted to summon the Dark Queen to Athas.

What i liked most about Draconis as a character was his spiritual side. His conversion to good really accelerated once he learnt about defiling magic, and realised that his queen would undoubtabley teach it as an additional power source to the black robes, to super-charge thier spells with life and weave energy on Krynn, and although that would win her the war, would turn Krynn into a dust-bowl. I played his as a loyal, lost servant, desperate to return home, but fiercly loyal to these strange beings that had taught him that his own life was worth something. Pity he died.

I case you're interested there's this other thread with a near identical subject matter - your athasian heroes - that ran 3 months ago.
