#1HammerheadSep 07, 2004 17:14:08 | Can somone tell me? Especially where do the new ones live? I was thinking maybe the sun giants would live in the bright lands |
#2MortepierreSep 07, 2004 17:29:26 | Giants (Hill, Fire, Frost, Cloud, and Mountain) are known to inhabit in respectable numbers the Crystalmist Mountains and, to a lesser extent, the Hellfurnaces. Some can be found in the Rakers and Corusk Mountains (mainly Frost & Mountain). There are legends about mysterious giants in the Amedio jungle, the so-called "Children of Llerg" (I know what they are but won't tell here given my players might be lurking around) You can find voadkin in the Celadon forest, hill giants in the Flinty Hills, a rather large group of ettins some distance north of Innspa, etc.. |
#3zombiegleemaxSep 08, 2004 13:54:23 | There are stone giants in the mountains of Sunndi according to Return to the Tomb of Horrors. |
#4zombiegleemaxSep 08, 2004 16:20:39 | There is also a mention of stone giants in the Yatils near the Lost Caverns of Tsjocanth as well as near the Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun. Also I envision a storm giant King and dual Dukes of both types of cloud giants near the Sulhaut mountains meet the Crystalmists as done in Dungeon #93 (aka The Storm Lord), but also see the 25 year anniversary Against the Giants~Liberation of Geoff~ details many of the old lairs as well as some new lairs of mountain giants near the Oytwoods as well as the Cloud Islands of the Sakut. Either way its interesting to see what others have done in their home games |
#5mortellanSep 09, 2004 1:39:40 | Abbyslin, is it time for another extensive listing on CF? Giants of Oerth? |
#6zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2004 9:06:00 | I'm down. |

#8zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2004 9:59:55 | We'll, apparently WoTC links are a little "different." You'll have to click "One Page Special Features." Then "Giants of Oerth." Nevermind, juts copy/paste the link. If I hyper it, this forum sends you off to some other crap. |

#16zombiegleemaxSep 15, 2004 9:12:51 | I'm not sure we wanna include giants from encounter tables, Wes. I think it may lead to a huge amount of low-key references. If there isn't many I suppose we could throw 'em in though. |

#18kwint_pendickSep 15, 2004 10:42:16 | Not sure if this counts, but in "Slavers" there's a formorian giant that's been polymorphed into a carnivorous parrot that serves Commander Carister of the Hardby Marines...Ya gotta love a parrot with 13+3 HD and 68 hps (Ad&d 2e) ... Kwint |
#19kwint_pendickSep 15, 2004 10:46:43 | Also from "Slavers" are a mated pair of Hill Giants in the City of Highport that hire themselves out as bodyguards or laborers... Kwint |
#20zombiegleemaxSep 15, 2004 10:56:51 | I already have the parrot, who is first mentioned in From the Ashes. Do the Highport giants have names? |
#21kwint_pendickSep 15, 2004 11:04:03 | "Do the Highport giants have names?" Nope, just mentioned in passing... Kwint |
#22kwint_pendickSep 15, 2004 12:55:47 | "Ivid the Undying" has several giant entries yet to make the list, including: 1) Dozens of Stone Giants imported by Baron Pamdarn to strengthen Port Elder's citywalls... 2) A Trio of Stone Giants recruited by Graf Reydrich to work on his Tower in Zelradton 3) Hierranea, Storm Giant protector of Goldbolt and a Priestess of Stonmaus 4) Two polymorped Mountain Giants (now in dwarven form, but with their original Strength) serving as bodyguards for Francennis of Ralsand 5) Phalanxes of Hill Giants at Bloodcrystal [originally aluded to "The Marklands"] Kwint |

#24zombiegleemaxSep 17, 2004 10:24:38 | The giants are better organized in Greyhawk than in other campaign settings it seems to me. |
#25MortepierreSep 17, 2004 13:14:58 | The giants are better organized in Greyhawk than in other campaign settings it seems to me. I wouldn't say that. Sure, giants are old history in GH but I don't think they ever reached the kind of organized society displayed in the history section of this. |
#26kwint_pendickSep 17, 2004 16:30:20 | Do giant-kin (spriggans, voadkyn, verbeeg) count? Kwint |
#27cwslyclghSep 17, 2004 17:21:50 | giant-kin was a 2e convention... (and then only in early 2e, it was phased out in late 2e)... in 1e and 3e etc giant-kin are listed simply as giants... since Abyss has already added some "giant-kin" to the list (Such as formorians) I do not see why Voadkyn, Verbeeg, etc. can;t be on the list. |
#28kwint_pendickSep 18, 2004 16:17:00 | Well Then- "Marklands" notes that there are 400 Voadkyn aiding the gruagach of the Celadon Forest. Dungeon #13 notes that there are 2 Spriggan Guards serving below the Ruins of Nol-Daer on the Wild Coast. Kwint |
#29kwint_pendickSep 19, 2004 14:36:55 | "Greyhawk Adventures" Hardback lists a Hill Giant Tribe by Csipros Erd, the Geysers of Death, in the Barrier Peaks. The book also denotes 400 Stone Giants living amongst many halflings at Esmerin. Kwint |

#31kwint_pendickSep 23, 2004 12:16:06 | Abysslin- I noticed you didn't include either the Nol-Daer Spriggans or the Esmerin Stone Giants on the Canonfire list...Just an oversight? Kwint |
