As I am currently writing down my Kul'gobsula sourcebook

*start promotional spot*

featuring the whereabouts and the history of a distanst elven enclave far north of the Flanaess,
A must-have for alll Greyhawk fans

*end promational spot*

I start wondering what would be other possible scenarios for new campaign settings in the Flanaess.

My players and other friends have suggested some ideas that I would want you all to comment on, as I may focus on it for a possible sequel to my sourcebook (errr... up to date sourcebook FRAGMENT...) in the distant future.

So, what do you think of

1. ... a Birthright like regency system for the Flanaess? - My players feature some epic characters and want them to become real rulers of the land.

2. ... a Ravenloft - Greyhawk crossover campaign featuring a war between the dark Lord of Darkon and the fowl animuses of Rauxes?

3. ... Some feature describing another hidden kingdom such as a lost dwarven city or some underworld seleuise refuge under the desert?

It's not that I spent my days tipping like a madman, but from the stuff I gathered I think some of these will be my next attempt. (Dropped the Dragonlance Campaign I was writing - will use only the fragments for my group.)

I vote for "1."

I never had the chance to learn Birthright when it was still on the shelves, but the more I hear about the system the more it intrigues me.

I didn't much like the pen and paper version of it, but I loved the Birthright computer game. It takes care of all the boring calculations and lets you concentrate on strategy.

I was even trying to mod it into a Greyhawk game, but it quickly went beyond my meager skills.

I vote for 3. I'd like to see new regions. I like the idea of exploring ancient areas, and am deeply interested in desert and underground regions.

On a side note, I've been trying to come up with 'soft' ways of making Greyhawk similar to Eberron without the high advanced magical technology. I really just want to emphasize the feel of large cities, ancient ruins, high action-adventure, and post-war developments. [When you think about it, the Greyhawk Wars ended only six years ago.]

Having an ancient and long-forgotten kingdom resurface would be powerful fuel for a campaign.

As a write in vote, I'd like to suggest a thorough Greyhawk Underdark source that details the Underdark areas of Oerth. There are tales of Underdark realms between the Rift Canyon and the Crystalmist mountains. The Crater Ridge Mines in the Lortmil Mountains supposedly has Underdark passages beneath it, too. Exploring the Deep Oerth and the relationships among its denizens could prove very interesting.

Thank you!
As a DM I am very self - centered and argue about my projects long time. Your opinions will surely helph me!

To Birthright:
These days, a lot of the BR stuff is freely available, on Wizards and (an equally splendid site) Bloodsilver.
Printing the basic material will cost about 10$, I think, and then you can start!
(Might be interesting, as I think that noone today has too much money to spend on rpg books; 30$ for every module is tough!)

I really like the birthright setting, as it has a very Celtic flavour and much things are more mythology based than, i. e. most aspects of WoG.

You can get the most of BR not by using it as a strategy game, but by setting up random adventures in it. The BR world was not as intensely explored as other worlds, but I notice certain ideas that later were featured by FR and Eberron.

In short, it's absolutely worth a try!!

To Eberron:
Is it that I missed something or why is everyone so happy about this new setting that is supposed to replace FR someday?
I read some articles about it, and looked at some fan pages, and came to the conclusion that I don't need it. But apparently, everyone seems to love it!

To Underdarks:
I like the idea, as I first thought of writing *Prison of Ice* as an Underdark campaign. But I think that up to date, noone would really feel interest for it. It's to easy to convert the FR modules to Greyhawk.
Plus, Drows on Oerth seem not to be such a common race as on Toril, where nearly every deeper cave ends up in Mezzoberazan... :D

Anyway, you don't have to worry about that, as *Prison of Ice* may feature some info among the prehistoric wars between grey and dark elves...

But where place a new region?
There has been much aficionado work already, as on the southern parts, we have Maztica and Nyambe, in the East there's still Aquaria waiting to be explored an for the north, besides Blackmoor, there are two fan sourcebooks in the making, I think!

*So we head west*
