#1zombiegleemaxSep 18, 2004 19:59:15 | I was wondering what level the 2 PCs would have to be to be able to be strong enough to get through the KoD? I'm not very good with the calculations and what not so the help would be greatly appreciated |
#2zombiegleemaxSep 18, 2004 20:12:45 | You only have 2 other players eh? That is pretty rough... There have been a couple times where I have let my players control more than 1 character... Maybe you should just have them control 2 characters each, that way you don't feel so bad if you have a little fun and kill some... |
#3zombiegleemaxSep 18, 2004 20:16:13 | Well, I have another game running too, with 4 PCs... But my other friends(who can't make it when we do play it) would like to play this module also, and I can't resist running it for another group(no matter how small) just to see how it differs from my other one I also don't think they could handle two characters. But if I can't figure out what level they would have to be to "equal out" I guess I'd have to try that haha |

In most cases, you'll find that an EL of their character level -2 is a suitable challenge, so if you compare the EL of any encounter in the adventure to the heroes' level -2 you'll get roughly the same kind of idea of the threat as you would a normal party. You could also halve the numbers of opponents they deal with in any fight. Scaling the encounter this way is similar to taking 2 from that encounter's EL. Cheers, Cam |

#6darqanjelSep 19, 2004 23:33:50 | Hey, I've been a LONG time lurker, finally got my act together and made an account so i can final join in in the wonderful conversations everyone's been having. That being said... I actually have run through all of chapter one and most of chapter two with just two PCs, a minotaur mariner and a silvanesti white-robe. It's been quite interesting, provided that you allow for some NPC help (which there are plenty of NPCs in the module that can help out quite nicely). I've had Cole(?) from the sylvan key help the players out sometimes, but if the combat is downplayed in favor of roleplaying solutions to problems, as my players have been handling things, there seems to be no problem whatsoever running it with just two PCS. I don't know about later in the module yet though, they haven't gotten that far. |
#7zombiegleemaxSep 20, 2004 11:16:28 | I started running KOD with 4 people a few weeks ago and either the adventure is too tough for them or the majority is just plain iggnunt because 1 has already died, being stubborn and sucked to death by stirges instead of staying with the group meeting the little Kender NS, and so I added 2 more characters that will begin later this week. |
#8zombiegleemaxSep 22, 2004 15:50:39 | You can also just generate 2 or 3 NPCs to fill the gaps that are left. ~~~ |
#9zombiegleemaxSep 23, 2004 17:36:25 | Our first game with 6 people playing is tonight. I hope that it will go well, I am tired of people dying for being so iggnunt. |
