Did anyone get a chance to pick up MM3 yet? It should be out this month. I haven't bought it yet, but after looking through the art gallery for it, it looks like it might be of some interest for Mystara fans.

First of all the new Troll variants seem somewhat reminiscent of the Trolls mentioned in the Northern Reaches Gaz, which never had stats for them. I can't remember which subtypes were specifically mentioned there, but these guys might be a good match. Also, I think the Eldritch Giant might be a good version of the Great Giant (Jotun) mentioned in the same Gaz.

The "Drowned" sounds like it might be an adaption of the norse creature Draugr, which although not mentioned in the NR gaz fits pretty well into that setting.

The two illustrations of Rakshasa subtypes work well as illustrations for Rakasta, so I have already downloaded those images onto my hard disk.

The Mud Golem also appeared in OD&D material so its Mystaran in my book.

The Warforged are included in ths book for those who don't want to buy Ebberron. As has already been discussed, Warforged may be used to detail the Automatons of Blacklore.

The Red Cap is straight out of Tall Tales of the Wee Folk. I love the illustration.

Not sure what an Ibixian is. I suspect it might be some sort of Outsider, but the illustration looks just like how I imagined the Goat Men of the Black Mountains.

Honorable mention goes to the Dracotaur, Kenku, Justicator and the Wood Voad. While none of these can be considered inherently Mystaran, I think they look pretty cool.

OTOH, it looks like they have included a larger than normal number of silly/weird creatures in this installment of the Monster Manual series that I would probably never use IMC.

So, did I miss anything? Would be interested in hearing from people who have bought the book if it is useful for a Mystara campaign or not.

By the way I love how Wizards are putting out these image galleries. Excellent for handouts for my campaign

Well, I haven't bought it yet either, but I intend to at some point in the near future. I'll just add some of my ideas to Havard's (keep in mind I going strictly by visual images for most of these ideas).

Changelings and Shifters - Also Eberron creatures, I think that Changelings and Shifters would fit in anywhere that their full blooded progenetors would. Shifters might be fun in Ierendi, and Changleings fun in Sind. We discussed this in another thread a while back.

The Golems are cool. Web Golem will find a home in Herath.

Prismatic golems might find some use as a radiance type creature.

Shadesteel golem looks pretty creepy. Could be a Blackmoorian remnant.

Alchemical golems could be found in Glantri.

There are 2 new breeds of lizardfolk (also Eberronian) that could be used in Malpheggi or Ierendi (or the HW).

Nycters could be used. I believe that there are some kind of bat people around (from Rotipher's HM), but can't remember what they are called off the top of my head.

Shimmerlings are kind of cool as a Fey swarm, and Swampstriders look kinda fun for a Malpheggi swarm too.

Woodling Druids and Wood Woads look like they might fit in Alfheim or other similar areas.

They Mystaran Yowler is actually a Yeth Hound (found in the MM); the stats on it and the AD&D/2nd Edition Yeth Hound are almost identical, as is the description. Only the names have changed.

So, the MM3 monster now should be remaned Feral Yowler, then eh? I like the sound of that. Which parts of Mystara would the Yowler and its Feral counterpart be native to?

I believe the Yowler is mentioned as living in the remote mountains of Glantri in Gaz 3 somewhere... But IMO it could fit into most mountain ranges though.

Ah, I forgot about them being mountanous creatures. The Brokenlands would probably be a good home for these creatures, perhaps they are even trained as guard animals for some of the humanoids there.

I always figured they would be nice steppe creatures too. If so, perhaps the Ethengar Steppes could be home to a few packs?
