#4zombiegleemaxSep 22, 2004 19:46:55 | One more week till we are happy again. One more week until we are happy again! Then what? You get to buy the book, read the whole thing, debate it until it's no fun anymore, and then wait for the next book. It's a terribly addictive cycle. I think Sov Press put something in the ink that last for about 6 months so when the next release comes out we get addicted all over again. :D |
#5zombiegleemaxSep 23, 2004 3:33:21 | Thx. Very thx. For this preview. But i have some question for dragonamry? 1. What is with the logistic? No infos over the baggage. 2. How many soldier the dragonamry haves totalling? 3. How many pay it it gives for join? In the computergame Champions of krynn stand in a jorney: 5 Steel for join and 2 Stell every week bis end the campaign. Is this for D&D corect? 4. Why polearm and shortsword? Where are the real swords? In the moment look more at arming of the ancient world. And please give us a map over the conquest of the armys of ansalon. |

Yeah, there isn't anything about baggage and supplies etc in the book, at least not to the level of detail you're probably after. I did have a friend once who knew precisely how large King Bran of Ireland's army was based on the number of cows they had travelling with them, but then he was a military historian and worked in army intelligence. Not so much of that for us game designers. 2. How many soldier the dragonamry haves totalling? You could probably add them all up, but it wouldn't be a good idea, since there would be no accounting for losses or recruitment. 3. How many pay it it gives for join? In the computergame Champions of krynn stand in a jorney: 5 Steel for join and 2 Stell every week bis end the campaign. Is this for D&D corect? Ariakas paid his mercenaries and his officers very well indeed, it was part of the reason he got such impressive numbers. But, again, there aren't any specifics mentioned. Those numbers you cite are probably accurate - 2 steel a week is more than most people in Ansalon make. 4. Why polearm and shortsword? Where are the real swords? In the moment look more at arming of the ancient world. Each army unit has a varied kit and choice of weapons. These were mostly decided based on the area of Ansalon they operated in, the common backgrounds of the troops, and an occasional arbitrary design decision for flavor. Polearms were historically a popular choice for heavy infantry, and a short sword is the ideal back up weapon in such a case. And please give us a map over the conquest of the armys of ansalon. Such a map doesn't come with the book, but there is extensive treatment given to the condition, history, status and movements of the dragonarmies in the book. For a visual representation, I usually suggest DL11 Dragons of Glory or Karen Wynn Fonstad's Atlas of Krynn. Cheers, Cam |
#7zombiegleemaxSep 23, 2004 13:32:27 | Do the numbers really matter, I mean, if your players are defending the Tower of the High Clerist it is still going to be a big number. Is there any information in the book that helps to determine large battle resolution? I know the old Battlesystem was supposed to do that but is there any other newer product that does that? |
