Curious to know how it's shaping up. Any nuggets you can share?

I'll let Erik supply the specifics but he told us in chat Thursday that the map project was pushed back a month until issue 118.

Naughty you! If you would attend GreyTalks, you'd know that it will be a 4 part poster-sized map (spanning 4 issues) of the flanaess.

To be appearing in Dungeon issues 117 to 120, in fact. That is, starting in about 2 months :D

Dungeon #116 is about to hit the storeshelves this coming week, so we're now only about one month away from the first map!

And here what we'll see:
Dungeon #117:
The World of D&D Poster Map (1 of 4) The first of four giant poster maps by all-star cartographer Robert Lazeretti reveals the treacherous Crystalmist Mountains, the forlorn Sea of Dust, and the pirate isles of the Azure Sea. At last, Dungeon readers can chart our core D&D adventures on a world map fit for kings!

Folks, as Mortellan pointed out, Erik announced thursday at the GreyTalk chat that the map has been postponed until issue 118.

He said he was concerned about the quality of the maps if he was to rush to make 117's deadline, so he decided to push it back an issue and make sure it's the best it can be when it is unleashed on us.

This text still made the preview in Dungeon 116. I wonder if this was a mistake or if they indeed did get the maps back on schedule. I haven't heard anything new on it in Greychat lately.

We made the decision to delay the map after 116 had left the door, alas.

The map's coming along well. I turn the final marked-up version over to the cartographer tomorrow, and still have about 8 hours of work to put into it. It's pretty exhaustive. I've gone through all the old modules and sourcebooks, so now I'm just indulging myself by adding little villages and stuff from old issues of Dungeon.

Here's a link to a discussion on the Paizo site where I get into a little more detail: http://www.paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/dungeon/generalDiscussion/greyhawkMaps

I really need to make those part of my daily diet. You'd think after all that Paizo forum lobbying and WoTC forum boycotting I did, that I'd be living "over there!"

The word at Paizo is that the map is finished; we'll see the first part in the next issue of Dungeon.

Anyone want to speculate which quadrant we'll be seeing first?

I'll say the Theocracy of the Pale, Bandit Kingdoms, Nyrond, Stonefist, et al.

They already stated it would be the southeastern quarter...
