#1zombiegleemaxSep 26, 2004 16:35:09 | Hi, I'm, somewhat, a neewbie DM, who would like to run ToEE with my Players. I was wondering if anyone made a 3e/3.5e coversion of the adventure as I'm not really sure how to do it my self... Else, could i run Return to ToEE with out them having played ToEE? Also i have a question. Isn't Greyhawk the world which the PhB and DMG is refering to? then how come the gods listed in ToEE appendix 1 not the same as in the PhB? |
#2MortepierreSep 26, 2004 18:18:28 | Hi, I'm, somewhat, a neewbie DM, who would like to run ToEE with my Players. Certainly. Welcome to WoG! You'll find a conversion (3.5E) to ToEE here: http://www.enworld.org/forums/local_links.php?action=links&catid=16&sort=N&page=2&pp=20 You could run RtToEE without having played ToEE first but since the second module builds upon knowledge gained in the first, you would be missing something. Or, rather, your players would be. Greyhawk is considered the "Core" setting for D&D 3.5E only as far as the Core books use a selected few pieces of GH lore to round up the system (notably, GH deities and spells invented by GH famous wizards). Still, the "core adaptation" of GH deities wasn't done smoothly. St-Cuthbert, for instance, is different in GH (though not by much) from his description in the PHB/DMG. The deities listing you refer to was what GH was using back in 1E. That list has evolved, both in 2E, and then in 3.XE. That was only to be expected. Don't worry about it. If you want a good 3.X list of GH gods, please consider this website: http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/tamerlain/Greyhawk/GreyGods.html Have fun! EDIT: copy/paste the links directly to your browser as it seems the WotC board messes them up |

#4scoti_garbidisSep 27, 2004 7:44:04 | I was looking through the Temple of Elemental Evil conversion and didn't see an adjusted APL or any APL for that matter. Is it understood that this adventure is still aimed at 1st level characters? |
#5zombiegleemaxSep 27, 2004 8:58:50 | the Return module is not for 1st lvl characters. it is for 4th lvl and up. the conversion of T1-4 is for 1st lvl. starting with T1 village of Hommlet. |
#6zombiegleemaxOct 18, 2004 3:26:39 | Anyone got any advice for how to power the juggernaut on Level 2 down to be beatable by a level 6-8 party? The stats in the monster manual 2 would chew up my player's PCs in seconds. |
#7bastrakOct 18, 2004 7:07:43 | As I recall I used a Juggernaut 3e conversion I found on the Creature Catalog site when I converted ToEE for 3.5. The MMII Juggernaut is as you say far too powerful for the likely levels of your PC's. |
#8zombiegleemaxOct 19, 2004 1:38:53 | Well, even with the powered down Juggernaut two party members bought it, including one Half Orc Barbarian that's been with the party since the begining. They'd never seen a Juggernaut before and didn't realize how powerful its crushing damage was. They were too focused on trying to take down Belsornig, Merrolan and Belstro before the idol started laying the smack down. Ah, well. Thanks for the heads up though! |
