#5richard_kSep 29, 2004 7:46:24 | Thanks for the replys. If anyone wants the list of bits i made em out of ill post em up. Making the modron was a very stressful experience as the joins were very fragile. |
#6gray_richardsonSep 29, 2004 11:46:01 | Absolutley, that was going to be my next question: what parts did you use to make the modron mini? |
#7richard_kSep 29, 2004 17:58:04 | First up the common peception of a modron being a walking dice is true, I did use a dice as the main body, one from the old basic DnD box, the one with the cardboard counters, that putty stuff, "green stuff", I used to fill in the numbers. Both hands of the modron are from a plastic Empire crossbowman from the warhammer range of minis. Its feet are actually two skeleton heads, also from warhammer, there two skeleton heads with the conical helmets, the skull part was cut off and filed down, the top of the cone part was cut down with some nail clippers and two little holes were drillled into the top of them as the shins into the feet are the most fragile join. The arms, elbows, legs, knees, the ocular scope and part of the wings were made from several plastic pilums from some old roman skeletons i had, though just about any skinny plastic bits could be used. The face is just a thin piece of plastic with the main parts of the face, ie the mouth and eye sections, carved into them, I did try to directly paint it on but my hand isnt that steady. The wings are actually one of the empire shield designs, a griffon I think, i just cut the wings off them. The raised eyes are parts from the warhammer zombie kit, they are from the bells u get. All the circle parts of plastic that the legs, arms, ocular scope and wings join to off the main body are parts from the zombie standard top, where the hands connect to the main post, there are two little metal rings, i cut these off and due to the way the mini is molded u get a nice curved indentation that the arms glue into nicely. The arms were glued to the legs, thats why its hands are at its side as the model is extremely fragile and this added some stability. Painting it I went with as close as i could get to a picture of Nordom from planescape all though the actual picture i used to base the modron on is from the monster supplement u get in the Planescape Campaign setting box. If u decide to make your own, I would paint it and varnish it as it helps to hold it together. I dropped mine twice trying to paint it and both times it broke off at the knees, so if i make another one id be sure to add a little extra support here and at the ankles. Thanks for listening to this rather long rant explanation and i hope u have a nice stressful experience as i did building my modron mini. |

#9Shemeska_the_MarauderSep 30, 2004 19:35:18 | *stamps 'Approved by the hidden masters of the lower planes: The Yugoloths' on the bottom* That is freaking awesome! |
#10zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2004 0:25:39 | Man....sorry I'm so late in posting this! :D *stamps obsessive modron lover seal of approval* |
#11richard_kOct 02, 2004 3:43:27 | Thanks Nordom, Im thinking of making a four arm quadrone but i dont have two crossbows with the right hands holding them so Im going to make some from scratch however I just dont have the time at the moment. Does anyone have some close up pictures of Nordom as I dont really want to play through Torment again just for some pics, hmm, all though. |
#12zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2004 5:42:15 | Google Image Search is my Superman. And big versions of that: at ftp://ftp1.interplay.com/pub/misc/modron1280x1024.zip ftp://ftp1.interplay.com/pub/misc/modron1024x768.zip ftp://ftp1.interplay.com/pub/misc/modron800x600.zip ftp://ftp1.interplay.com/pub/misc/modron640x480.zip |
#13zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2004 8:49:54 | If you have Torment, try getting Infinity Explorer - it lets you export pictures, animation, etc. from the game. |
#14richard_kOct 02, 2004 22:14:57 | Thanks all. Im going to start building Nordom after Ive finsihed painting up my cthulhu character mini (a FBI behavioural psychologist). Probably have him done in a week, hopefully. |
