Rewriting the Grand Conjunction modules for the 3rd Edition

I am currently planning to rewrite the Grand Conjunction modules to update them to the third-edition. (In fact, I have even grander ambitions of converting most of the 2nd edition modules). But I have some questions about the endeavor:

 • What would you change in the plot or difficulty levels of the original Conjunction modules to make them viable for 3rd Ed.
 • Are there any canon problems that could be addressed via updates?

Also, how does source attribution work for e-modules? If welcomed by the community, does anyone have a link with citation guidelines? I'd like to give full credit where it's due, and I'd also like to update these modules with the help of you, the Ravenloft community I hold in highest regard, to keep Ravenloft viable for years to come!

One thing that comes to mind is that the order of the adventures (if you take into account PC levels) and the Historical ordering do not coincide. Whether that could be fixed is something I'm not sure about.

In trying not to break any licensing rules, what do I owe WotC or Arthaus studios regarding licensing, citations, etc? I suppose I must either refrain from using modules and creating my own parallel conjunction without using any of the established DL's, pay royalties to WoTC to use the old second-edition modules, or write them and hope that they are Arthaus-interesting or worthy for publication by them? Are those my only options?

Depends on if you want to publish that info or just update the modules for your benefit.

As far as the order goes, you will have to rearrange the Hyskosa prophecy to fit the module level ranges. No problem tho.

I'm almost satisfied enough to start, but I have a few lingering questions.

If I update the modules and distribute them (for free) to any of you that are interested, am I violating licensing agreements?

Ideally, I'd like to work with fans like yourself to keep this content viable, but I don't want my altruism to warrant litigation.

Oh, how I miss the Kargatane!

I wonder how it would work if you just included notes necessary to make the original modules fit in 3.0/3.5?

In other words, dont rewrite the modules entirely, just make up notes and such to acct for the differences between the 2.0 version and the 3.0/3.5 version. That way anyone wanting to actually use your notes would have to own the original module?

Thanx

There is also the option of emailing custserv@wizards.com with your enquiries about legalities.

FYI, the mail I got from said WoTC Customer Service:

All requests for our licensing department must be sent in writing via regular US Mail.

I'm actually pretty interested in this project. Has there been any progress?
