Okay, so I've only read Dragons of the Autumn Twilight. I know I can't and you can't post explicit novel information, but is that the beginning of his powerfulness? The curse he got along with the wicked-awesome staff?

Well sorta. Its not those things in themselves, but the circumstances in which he obtained them.

Howdy Minion!

Welcome to the boards. Actually, Dragons of Autumn Twilight is an old enough publication (by far) that you can safely divulge anything about it. In fact, check the boards FAQ for more info on what constitutes spoiler warnings.

But as to your question, the only real answer I can give to you is to continue reading - the series gets better and better with each book. Also, don't ever go on simple hearsay from DL fans; some of us can be quite rabid and there's far too much badmouthing about this or that series or novel. Read a book through for yourself and see if you like it or not.

Stick the ones Weis & Hickman wrote all the way, then branch off as you see fit - this is probably the best way to really get into the depths of DL.

For more info on Raist's and curse and background, you might also want to read Soulforge and Brothers in Arms...after you finish The Chronicles. BTW good to have you.
