#1zombiegleemaxOct 20, 2004 14:18:37 | I quickly glanced at my Heroes of Steel boxed set that I bought the other day and read something about a Festival of the Heroes that takes place annually in Solace. Does anyone know about this ? What other holidays are celebrated throughout Ansalon ? ~~~ |
#2valharicOct 20, 2004 15:51:32 | If I recall, it's a festival to celebrate the heroes of the lance reunion and meeting at the Inn of the Last Home to comemorate the victory of the WotL. I believe the date is the day they got together in the fall. The beginning of the book DotAT |

Does anyone know about this ? What other holidays are celebrated throughout Ansalon ? It is also known as "Heroes Meet." It is September 13th...it is the anniversary of the day that the Heroes of the Lance met again in Solace (the first two chapters of Dragons of Autumn Twilight). I've put together a list of all the Ansalonian holidays (from as many references I could find) along with a brief description for my calendars I made. They start on page 5 (each calendar has the same sets of holidays and descriptions). http://www.dl3e.com/fan/rules/12576.aspx |

#6quentingeorgeOct 20, 2004 15:58:28 | Actually, aren't they two different celebrations? Isn't "Festival of the Heroes" commemorating the Battle of the Rift? |
#7brimstoneOct 20, 2004 16:11:37 | Actually, aren't they two different celebrations? Isn't "Festival of the Heroes" commemorating the Battle of the Rift? I've got "Day of Fire" for that. I don't know...I used several references...I might have missed some...but I didn't really have any contradictions (except for a couple contradicted each other on the date...but never on the name or reason for the holiday. But, like I said, I could have missed some. |
#8zombiegleemaxOct 21, 2004 21:22:44 | Let me know if the calendars are of any use. I've meant to find the guy that wrote those Holidays up for a long time. They've come in quite handy a few times when I needed to give my players a reason to go to town other than the usual. They also make for nice adventure hooks for lower level characters I've found. Thanks much! |

Hey, LoI...I've been going through the old SAGA modules and came across this. I'm not sure what they were going for here. Like we said above, there is the Heroes Meet day and the Day of Fire. Both of those are mentioned in SAGA products after Heroes of Steel. Since they specifically mention that the holiday is for celebrating the end of the Chaos War...I was say they are talking about what they call in later books, the "Day of Fire." (perhaps they changed the name because "Festival of Heroes" sounds too much like the pre-existing "Heroes Meet") Sorry...I don't have any new info to add...but at least I know what you're talking about. |
