#1zombiegleemaxNov 02, 2004 8:58:52 | Questions at the bottom... This is one long intro: In my campaign, Quimath the Kyton was eventually imprisioned on the Isle of the Black Trees. He is now the only person in the multiverse with the Iron Shadow. I was planning on having him escape at the begining of our new campaign by the hands of two clueless primes. With their world thus infected and Quimath on the loose, bent on revenge, they would have to take to the planes to find a cure. In the time that Quimath was imprissioned, the Iron Curse mutated, and him with it. He has become infused with the vileness of the Curse and has become a carrier. But he is not only a carrier for the curse, he is it's focal point. As long as Quimath is alive, the curse cannot be cured (because he can always infect places again), but if he dies, the curse will be free from him and can never be cured. Thus, the party must cure him before they can hope to cure the rest of the planes. The Iron Shadow itself has become infinitely more potent. It can now even affect the Infinite Staircase, and thus no being can be cured of it. In addition, the curse has become so paralyzing that some might sink into a coma after a few weeks of infection. Naturally, Quimath will first head to the Staircase to form a base of operations for himself. Imagine his surprise when the Staircase is infected! Selune will then close all the doors, allowing only her servants, who possess a moon chip to travel using it. It will take him a while, but he will get one of them. In the meantime, the PCs will have been approached by an especially chaotic Lillendi who knows that this block will not hold Quimath for long and get them to destroy (because she could not bring herself to do it) all the doors that lead to Sigil, Yggdrasil, Olympus, etc. In this way, the progress of the curse will be slowed. Quimath is out to find what he believes to be the cure (Navimas) and the book and destroy them, so the first places he travels will be a few of the old sites. He will also be pretty ****** when he finds out his family has been exiled from Jangling Hiter for his failures of a few years previous and might waste some time there. His quest for the cure will lead him to a bunch of other places to... Which leads me to my questions: 1. Can anyone give me some good ideas of places where the Iron Shadow will lead to adventures for the PCs (ala the original adventures)? 2. Is there anything you guys would change about the above idea? 3. Is there anything you would add? (I'd like this adventure to span an entire campaign and I definitely need some more stuff to prevent it from getting repetitive...) |
