What about the Marshal, from Miniatures? Do you allow them in your party? Since de 1st level?

Our GM likes it. Our party tank has two levels of Marshal - she's Fighter 6 / Marshal 2 / Platinum Knight (modified) 3.

My question is: how would you deal with a leader that has 1 lvl (asuming that he takes the class in the 1t lvl)

There's a few ways to think about it.

Perhaps they're not a leader in the sense of having a higher military rank than everyone, but they're the guy in the squad who keeps their head when things go awry. Think of war movies you've seen; there's always one of the grunts who's cool under fire, who leads by example rather than with orders. He's the guy the others look at and say "Hey, if he can do it, so can I!" You don't need to be high level to fill that role.

Another thing to remember is that war leaders and officers might not come from the ranks of the common infantry. Perhaps your level 1 marshal was a nobleman, trained to lead from a young age; he enters the army untested in battle, yet in command of a battalion.

That's very true. People tend to think of having to start out as a grunt and work their way up to being an officer, but usually you're trained to be an officer(well, maybe not in the US Army, I'm not entirely sure how that's set up), but in a medieval-type world, a common private(or private equivalent) had very little chance of ever becoming an officer.

Not just medieval. For a "commoner" to become an officer is a much more recent development.

I've had two minor Marshal villains. No PC marshals.
