In this book the death knight is an actual class, meaning the player can choose to play the death knight class @ 1st-level. Is a class such as this feasible for the DragonLance setting ?

The reason I am asking is because the class interests me greatly, I am considering making it an available option for my DL players.

Is that Green Ronin as in the publisher, or just the title? I'm unfamiliar with this resource, but it does sound intriguing. Also, the Libris Mortis book by WotC is out, with all kinds of necromantic goodies for those interested in those character class types.

By the way, nice lookin avatar LOI. Reminds me of Zarathos from Marvel comics (though honestly, I don't know where the original image is from)

Green Ronin as in the publisher.

I'm unfamiliar with this resource, but it does sound intriguing.

The book is from Green Ronin's Arcana series.

Here is the link: http://greenronin.com/catalog/grr1014

Everytime I go to Border's I see several copies of the Libris Mortis, although I have never actually sat down and looked the book over. Border's is good for this kind of thing. You can order a cappucino, then actually sit down and read the book, before you buy it, unlike FLGS locations.

By the way, nice lookin avatar LOI. Reminds me of Zarathos from Marvel comics (though honestly, I don't know where the original image is from)

Thanks, I snatched it from the Magic: The Gathering selection of avatars. They have some nice ones.

Hmm, book looks interesting I'll give it that, unfortunately it's listed as out of print? From a superficial look of the book's contents, it sounds like Libris Mortis covers alot of the same material, but has about 5-10 new classes, plus additional templates to add to undead to make them particularly nasty. Also features like haunting rules, exorcism, new spells, new feats (some specifically for necromancers, making them EXTREMELY dangerous in some cases) new undead, new armor and weapon magical features and types, as well as new sections on combatting undead with weapons, alchemy, etc etc.
Very nice book, I got it with the strong emphasis on undead in the KoD campaign in mind, figuring this would be a good resource to compliment the adventure. So far, it hasn't let me down. :D

I don't know if I'd allow a PC to try and aspire to be a death knight. To be turned into one is suppose to be a punishment delt out by the gods. There would have to be a really good role playing reason for a PC to be one and continue adventuring and advancing as a PC with rest of the party IMO.

I did not know it was out-of-print, I ordered one recently from my FLGS.

It sounds like it would be a bonus to my annual RavenLoft campaign. I may pick it up sometime next year.

Oh dude, if you got that book for a Ravenloft campaign, you'd probably be beset by maniacal giggling as you prepared adventures for your group. As if characters in Ravenloft had enough to worry about, that book will (as Emeril would say) 'kick it up a notch'
BAM! :D

I highly doubt that it is feasible to allow a 1st level death knight. If it was a prestige class that required certain prerequisites then it is more than feasible. As it has been pointed out in other threads, some would hardly consider the death knight a punishment. The idea, I'm sure, is for the immortal death knight to lament for his past crimes for all eternity. What isn't factored is what happens if the death knight isn't sorry for his foul deeds or his sanity snaps then he is a powerful plague. Lord Soth was driven by his desire for Kitiara and that almost caused Ansalon's downfall during the WotL.

So, I believe it could be a prestige class. I say bust out the box-o-baddies.

Roleplaying is absolutely required. Just remember how rare these guys truly are.
