#1jesterjeffDec 04, 2004 22:33:28 | howdy folks, just popped over to ask ya'll for a quick favor. Myself and terminusvortexa are rallying the posters over on darksun's forum to ask wizards to have a talk with the folks from http://www.athas.org , the guys who are converting darksun over from 2nd to 3.5 for free online download at wizards request, to take a step further and contract them to finish the job and producethe complete setting for publication under WoTC's D&D label. as you Lofter's have had the good fortune to have your setting crossed over and updated we thought you'd feel a certain sympathy for our plight. We know, much as you did, that We have a great setting with vast potential for continued sales under the new rules. We just want to let wizards know that we'd purchase and support the system. if you would like to read our thoughts and show support please follow this link and have a read. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=346692 Thanks Jester Jeff "Auf Wiedersehen, baby." |

That said, DS got some love recently in both Dragon and (especially) Dungeon. Compared to some of the other "poor stepchildren" of D&D, that setting has fared better. |
#3jesterjeffDec 05, 2004 13:08:45 | Wizards aproached fansites, a few years ago, for each of the nonrevised settings. The best site for each setting and told them they were authorized to convert and release the modified information but not for sell under That contract.Ravenloft's sight was aproached my White wolf and it's subsiterary Sword and sorcery and thedeals were made and ravenloft was reborn, Dragonlance had the same deal made but with soveirgn(sp)press. DS's official site is Athas.org. they have begun releasing suppliments of such quality that it inspired me to set this ball rolling to have wizards rerelease the setting using Athas' version because the D&D magazines were not to well recieved by some of the DS community while Athas has a much stronger support base. So we have a group of writers that have, in my eyes, already shown that they have the skill to do this. i'm attempting to motivate the fanbase so that when I release my online petition there'll be motivation to send it out and get it signed. |
#4zombiegleemaxDec 05, 2004 17:19:24 | Until WW got Ravenloft officially, the Kargatane held the rights to it, as for Dark Sun, I am surprised the official site at the time wasn't given the option of the rights to the setting, if they were I am more amazed they didn't pick them up. Anything released by that site would have been treated as canon. Dark Sun was my favourite non-Ravenloft setting and I would love to see it return to form |
