Jan 13, 2005 15:07:37 Hello; I just watched Traffic, and I realized that this kind of political corruption would work well in Athas. Has anyone made narcotics that the Sorcerer-Kings, nobles, and templars would want, but want to deny to the lower classes?

Jan 13, 2005 15:17:32 The Book of Vile Darkness has details on drugs and such. I'd suggest looking there for info. Its a great book.

Jan 13, 2005 22:50:50 I was planning on having several in Flora and Fauna of Athas book, but that one's a way's off. I was going to have Faro Leaves (like tabacco) and a series of others.

As for winging it for now, I think the Poisoner (? West of Balic, South of Alturak?) had some mentions of stuff under his entry. Can't remember which book it was, but I think it was Dune Trader.

Whether or not their effect was based on the tortures witnessed, they still were implied to be drugs through the context.

I also came up with a psionically-enhancing leaf - the Weomre Bush, protected by Jeipug mites. The leaves of the bush enhance your psionics, but they can make you sick if you have too much, and are addictive.
