Jan 16, 2005 22:34:34 My current group has been searching for a campaign world for some time, so it was a great pleasure when the Greyhawk maps from Dungeon Mag hooked them....

So, I've decided to begin this new campaign in the duchy, and was wondering where best I could access resources: maps, npcs, etc.

Jan 17, 2005 2:11:23 First thing first, try to grab a copy of the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. Failing that, get a pdf (RPGNow, SVGames, etc..) of either the World of Greyhawk or From the Ashes boxed set.

Jan 17, 2005 5:37:18 I believe the old Greyhawk Adventure HC has the Duke (Karll?) of Urnst in the NPC section.

LGGaz should be relatively cheap on ebay, around $ 10 and well worth it. From the Ashes and WoG Boxes are another thing. For them perhaps pdf versions are the better way to go.

Alittle googling turned up the following sites among others:

I especially enjoyed Russ Taylor's draft timeline, available at http://www.cmc.net/~rtaylor/greyhawk/duchy_urnst/timeline.html.

Reviewing it, and recalling the destruction of House Lorinar in the latter half of the 500s CY, I wondered if a singular power was responsible for it. I first suspected the Scarlet Brotherhood, which may have targeted House Lorinar after its leader, (Duke Dellin?), refused to ally with the masters of Shar.

Alternatively, there may have been several causes of House Lorinar's misfortune, including the SB, House Maure, and common fate?

Jan 19, 2005 10:44:29 IIRC Erik Mona used to have some notes on a campaign he ran in the Duchy online somewhere. I'm not sure if they're in the Canonfire Best of AOL downloads which is a collection of old posts to the Greyhawk forums on AOL.
