Its a little off the subject but there will be a DnD Online game. I just wish they used the DL Setting iinstead of Ebberon. Check it out at www.ddo.com

Not really a fan of MMORPG.

Agreed, they tend to be overpopulated with thirteen year olds who do nothing but scream obsenities and swipe your stuff.

You've managed to find games with over thirteen year olds? Lucky you. ;)

I hope there will never be a Dragonlance MMORPG. Really, can you imagine that?

Rasslinn: "I sellz duped dragonlancorz! Want only haxxored Nightbringors!"
Tasslehoff3452: "Damn lamer. Everybody knows you should dupe Dragonrobs instead."
MR.UberTanis: "Everybody come help me kill Takhisis! You can have any stuff she drops, I just want the exp from her."

Good grief.

I agree with the above sentiments, that are against MMOGs(I do not consider video games to be role playing games), somehow running around in a multi-linear video game with a bunch of online video gaming fanatics does not excite me in the least. Although I do play console video games, and sometimes borrow the plots from said games. When it comes to unlimited "role playing" itself, video games just fall short. They are not role playing games,....

What we are conversating about on these boards is a role playing game.

In my expirience the most fun I had in MMORPGs (you can RP on them you just need to find the right people) has been durring beta phases. Shadowbane for instance, I had a lot of fun when that was beta... but a couple months into the commercial release 'powergamers' had tainted it badly.

Anyway one thing that might MIGHT make a D&D MMORPG different, at least early on is that I've heard this Eberron MMO will have, at least to begin with, the Level 20 cap. Which will either make leveling extremely slow... or just have a lot of high level people. In either case the typical MMORPGer can't handle something like that, their mind would pop... they're always going for the next level "Dude why would you play that game? You can only go to level 20 LAME!"

It could actually keep some of the worst dregs away. I'm keeping a lazy eye on production, I'll see what develops, doesn't mean I'll buy it (I swore off MMORPGs... again... like I do every time I cancel a subscription to one...).

It's a "video game", not a "role playing game."

Why are we discussing an Eberron video game here on the DragonLance RPG boards anyway ? I am surprised one of the WizOs did not lock this thread as it has nothing to do with the DragonLance Campaign Setting within the Dungeons & Dragons RPG.

That is hilarious! I actually played an online video game, and they were acting-and misspelling-just like that.

Having played various MMO's since EQ1 (and currently loving World of Warcraft), it would be nice to play in a D&D online game. Unfortunatly, after reading the FAQ on the D&D Online website, I just don't see this game being very successfull, there are just too many limitations. Why only limit to five races and a handfull of classes? I don't want to wait 6 months for an expansion to play a half-elf druid. I do like the 20 lvl cap though, and I agree with Nived, that'll keep the idiot "1337" people away. If they were to do a Dragonlance game, I would hope that they would do a better job than this. And on that note...anyone heard anything new about the DL mod for NWN?
Now THAT I can't wait for.

The only online games I prefer are the ones that are free. I don't mind spending $50 for the software, but that is it. No monthly fees, and I can play forever.

That's why I prefer such game as Neverwinter Night, where you can host your own online game for free, unless you're a cheap SOB and charge your players for the invite.
