#1zombiegleemaxJan 24, 2005 23:02:16 | Recently I came across this campaign setting in a conversation with a fellow who bought everything for it when it was first released. I really don't know anything about it. Can anyone give me an idea of what it is? |

#4agathoklesJan 26, 2005 6:19:34 | Can anyone give me an idea of what it is? To sum it up, it is a relatively low-magic, somewhat tolkienesque setting, with cultural/technology levels ranging from dark ages to early renaissance. It is set in a single continent, Cerilia, on the planet Aebrynis. The setting has a strong focus on PC rulers (kings, guildmasters, high priests, nobles, etc.) and includes rules for war, divine right, and domain government and creation. Classes and races are mostly standard, but have additional twists -- e.g., elves are aloof, supernatural being much like faeries, dwarves are quite elemental and halflings have close ties with the Shadow World, while classes are modified in other ways (e.g., no generic clerics, Paladins can be of any good alignment, but are bound to specific cultures and gods, and there's a new rogue class, the Guilder). Magic, while potentially powerful, is limited to few individuals (elf-blooded or divine-blooded people). Lower magics (divinations, illusions) can be used by bards and magicians (roguish diviner/illusionists). |

The good (and neutral) gods defeated their evil brother (Azrai) but in so doing sacrificed themselves and spilt their blood on the land and those around. Those around being humans and demi-humans enlisted by the gods to join in the fight. This place was called Mt. Deismaar and it was totally obliterated by the final battle. The spilt blood invested those around with an portion of the dead gods' divinity. This manifested itself as bloodlines and blood abilities. Those so invested are called scions and are leaders of the the non-scions due to this divinity. From the battle arrose champions of the old gods that assumed their roles. So in essence you have a set of new human gods and a bunch of mortals (formerly mere mortals) invested with divinity and granted special poweres because of it. As said above the game was designed to have rulership level and mass combat level of play as well as the standard adventuring level. |
