#1gilliard_derosanJan 30, 2005 12:31:27 | Forgive me if this has been stated somewhere, I didn't see a place for feat errors. I sent this off to ds3-errata as well, but in case of an error, I thought I would post it here just in case as well Fast raze (page 30) seems to serve no purpose, since the benefit of the feat is that you can gain +1 caster level by extending the cast time to 1 full round action. Normal without the feat is you can gain +1 caster level by extending the cast time to 1 full round action (stated under the feat, and confirmed on page 42, under the Corruption of Power |
#2PennarinJan 30, 2005 15:06:29 | I recall it had been spotted and athas.org was aware of it, although I can't recall if a solution had been proposed on the boards. Probably that we were assured it would get reworked into the next release of DS3. |
#3jon_oracle_of_athasJan 30, 2005 15:43:22 | This has been addressed earlier. There's a big difference between a FULL ROUND and a FULL ROUND ACTION. Reread the feat description and read the game rules. Though, I am aware of the potential confusion and will see what I can do to make it easier to understand. |
#4superpriestJan 30, 2005 15:47:05 | While the text for both the normal method and Fast Raze is pretty clear, it's easy not to notice that without the feat, you have to go to 1 round casting time (not a full-round action). Maybe the description of that capability (and the "Normal" entry of Fast Raze) should take an extra sentence to make sure the point comes across. |

You can spend the entire round and then some casting a fireball. Before you are finished casting it though, your enemies have a chance to get closer, and possibly even whack at you (requiring concentration roles and the like) before it gets back to you and the spell is complete. Whereas with Fast Raze, you can start and finish casting it in the same round... just takes the entire round and you can do nothing else, except maybe a 5' step. Got it. If you just want to increase caster level without the feat, make sure you have a buffer to keep you out of danger long enough is all. |
#6superpriestJan 31, 2005 8:09:55 | Your mixing up terminology, but you have the right idea. A "round" is the whole 6 seconds. Your "turn" is the number of actions you can take (standard + move or full-round). |
