What is magehome in your campaign?
Magehome is located near the Lava gorge

In mine, it was the keep of Rajaat during the Cleansing war, were he comamnded his champions and made the 3 swords. They were no Lava gorge at that time. When the champions made there rebellion, they attacked Rajaat keep. The War bringer tryed to defend himself by casting an epic spell that created the lava gorge (a rift in the para-elemental plane of magma fire and earth). He summoned horde of elemental from that gorge to fight the champions army, but finally got defeated. They captured him and then, teleported with him in the Pristine tower to transform Borys.

In my campaign, the PC got the Scourge and now, they must find what the purpose of the sword is. So right now, i'm running Dragoin crown, but right after that, they will ahve to go there to search the keep and find what this sword is all about. It will end with a final fight with a giant greater fire elemtental 50 feet high.

Since Rajaat's merry sweet home seems to be the Pristine Tower and nothing else once the wars began, I'd say that Magehome could have been a rival "school" or fortress of sorts, a home base for preservers during the preserver jihad. As part of the jihad the hands of rajaat assaulted the place, and unleashed so much defiling power that the lava gorge was created as a result.

As I recall, Rajaat briefly considered stealing life energy for magic from Athas itself, but reconsidered when it almost killed him and created the swamp at the base of the Jagged Cliffs. Maybe something similiar happened here during the Cleansing Wars; a band of preservers at the fortress attempted to tap into the lifeforce of Athas and in doing so killed themselves and ripped open the gorge.

Or the gorge can have been there from before settlement occured.

It could be a place not unlike the weird chamber on the sides of Mount Doom, in LotR: The Return of the King, where the rings of power were forged. It would give access to the lava lake, thus allowing incredible forging opportunities to anyone willing to go there, with with all that lava. Initially an ancient sea-floor volcana in the Blue Age, the gorge would have appeared for all to see in the first years of the Green Age, right away becoming a place of power in the new races' imagination. Built by the first people to have developped metalsmithing in the Green Age (maybe the pre-Dwarven Kings dwarves), it would have been used by the dwarves, Rajaat, the preservers, anyone through time that has had something important to forge.

Or, it could be Suthera's* place, probably a fortress, now in ruins after Rajaat's armies crushed her forces during the Preserver Jihad. Several times the size and importance of the Wind Mages' ruined fortress of Akarakle on an island in the Silt Sea.

Could have been both: one built over the other.

* Suthera: greatest preserver of the past, leader of her people against Rajaat's forces.

In my Scorched Plateau material, I had Magehome be one of Rajaat's schools where he taught magic to willing students. In one draft of the material, Lava Gorge was created in a conflict that arose when the discovery was made that Rajaat had been teaching defiling magic to those he deemed "worthy" amongst the students. In another (and, imho, cooler) draft of the material, Lava Gorge was the largest and most devastating of a series of ancient impact craters from a collision between Athas and a celestial body in the distant path. Fragments of the body rained down upon Athas, streaking from south to north. Other impact craters included Dragon's Bowl, Troll Grave Chasm and the Last Sea, all of which lie along a very rough south-north axis. But then, I like celestial impacts almost as much as I like giant squid, so go figure. Still haven't decided which version to settle on...

I dont like using the term Jihad in dark sun.

First, its not cannon
Second, Jihad mean in arabic; an holy war made to defend the homeland against an invader.

I have no problem with that, and rather like the connotations of that word, which are appropriate to the actions undertaken.
These conflicts all have the markings of holy wars, even though its not about religion. They're like the crusades, serving powerful people and organizations' interests. The population is made to believe, by those same powers, that those attacks are waranted and desired and that they should support them.

Crusades, jihads, final solutions, holy wars...many names for massacring people in the name of a cause but in the service of power and hate.

Lynn Abbey had this dedication at the beggining of her last novel:
"This book is dedicated to the million of human beings who, since the dawn of time, have suffered and died because another human being thought they weren't quite human enough.
It is especially dedicated to the people of Bosnia and Rwanda for whom the Cleansing Wars are an unforgiving, unforgettable reality.
"

134th King's Age (-4,312)
-King's Agitation
Rajaat begins a jihad against the preservers of Athas for the next thousand years. Preservers across the land go into hiding while fighting a losing battle against the followers of Rajaat.

167th King's Age (-1,771)
-Enemy's Agitation
The sorcerer-kings call for a jihad against the druids of Athas. For the next three centuries the blood of druids across the land stains the sands red in what would be known as the Eradication.

Also, whatever the primary meaning of the word "jihad" has been for centuries, its newest meaning (i.e. defining attacks against despoilers and enemies of your fate) is overtaking the primary meaning in the collective consciousness of the world.

I don't like the Word too, not because of it's meaning in the real world but because it sounds as unathasian as dog or cat .

Magma Drake ;) and (para-)elemental beasts. Some Ruvoka might be handy too.
Maybe Ssuran too. Hm not quite a monster but an Elemental AB of Magma named Z'roosch. :D
