I truly love MW & TH 's crazy mage he is my favorite of all i think , i always seem to want to make the DM a Fizban knock off

Fizban shows up in a couple of other Weis and Hickman series, such as Death Gate, but as Zifnab (and another, but I forget which).

Verminaard isn't necessarily dead...

You know, Fizban did not bother me until I read the Death Gate books. Until he became a recycled character because of a laps in creative thought to enginer something new and intersting, he was ok. Only a bit more interesting than reading about Kender, and a few levels better than reading about Gully Dwarves.

I am pretty sure old age has claimed the life of our friend, Sevil...

You realize that if you mix up the letters in the name "Sevil", you come up with "Elvis", right? And we all know that he's alive... ;)

And the ball comes flying down the left-field line!

Now, if Sevil Draamin Rev could somehow be reconfigured into Elvis Pressley, I would scream.

I fail to see why characters dying, or being "killed off" is so terrible. Would you rather this was like FR (this really is becoming cliche to state this) where characters seldom die, and the storyline did not progress anywhere.

Here's a better example: Marvel Comics.

The problem with Marvel is that characters don't stay dead. There's been maybe three characters (Captain Marvel, Bucky, and Uncle Ben) who have stayed dead.

Beyond that, the characters keep coming back. Aunt May, the Red Skull...the list goes on and on, so much so that my old Handbook of the Dead (the old one, not the new one) is largely invalid anymore.

One of the few times this came up in Dragonlance was with Goldmoon, and that was largely due to the communication problems between the novel and gaming line back in the SAGA days.

How would we feel if we knew that every time a character died, they would probably appear again? When characters die, the world needs to move on.

Death in Dragonlance is a very important theme. On top of that, death is a bit more believable. Flint didn't die in battle, he had a heart attack. Many people didn't like Tanis' death, saying that it was pointless. Yet that was the entire point - that not every death has a reason or meaning. Pointless deaths happen.

You know why they don't stay dead? This was the worst answer I ever got from one of the publishers while at Comi-Con a few years back. The characters don't stay dead because if they stay dorment for 5 years then the characters copy write is up and the character is free game for anyone to purchase. I mean, could you imagine Superman as published by Marvel comics, seeing the man of steel fight the likes of Apocolypse . . . hmmm, that might actually be fun.

I am all for change Dragonhelm but I do have to agree with one of the names Cerberysumbralthane mentions that of Cyan Bloodbane. I really liked the idea Matthew L.Martin came up with, him being a Dracolich tied to the remains of the Dragon Orb Raistlin had. That would've been so awesome. And more importantly it still would've been change which is what this death of characters comes down to.

Should we bring back all DL characters via ressurrection or undeath? Hell no!

With Cyan it would've made so much sense, it would've just fit perfectly....

Oh well....

I don't know.
I always get the feeling that characters in DL have the tendency to come back somehow: Raistlin always reappears, Tas - somehow - always reappears...
