Why dosn't Wizards bring out Collectors Edition box sets for the Settings they no longer plan to make products for. Just one little box for hardcore fans.

You mean reprint the 2e rules? What would be the point? That's not a rhetorical question; I'd like to know what you're thinking. The only reason I can see for doing that is to make out-of-print products available again. However, I can't see it being financially viable from Wizards' point of view, because most old players that have an interest in those settings probably already own them, and most new players wouldn't want to buy unsupported 2e settings.

From what I understand, those box sets are pretty expensive to make. Certainly far more expensive than what can be justified for a small group of fans.

WotC have already done a deal with a couple of PDF publishers, who have the right to sell you copies of any Spelljammer stuff that you want. I'm not sure if you can get them to print on demand, but it is worth you having a go.

As for a Spelljammer boxed set. Why would it be little? The original boxed set was not little. How would you decide what went in it and what got cut out.

If people start buying 2e material they won't need 3e rules so will not buy the WotC PHB, DMG and Monster Manual.

WotC has allowed a number of websites to become the "official" webites for their domant settings and most of them are working on 3e adaptations of some sort. Check out the 3e page on Beyond the Moons for more information about 3e Spelljammer.
