#5the_peacebringerFeb 21, 2005 12:51:34 | I'm going on 40... in about 13 years. :D |
#6murkafFeb 21, 2005 13:05:37 | 29.5 revolutions around Solaris, and counting. How long does that make on the Merchant's Calendar? |
#7elonarcFeb 21, 2005 13:15:47 | 25 Poké-years. |
#8zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2005 13:50:26 | So far the average age is 27.35 years. |
#9the_peacebringerFeb 21, 2005 14:16:28 | That's a pretty high average... huh, and my ex used to say RPGs were for kids... this means she was WRONG! :evillaugh Actually, I'm kidding, my ex never said that and my actual wife isn't bothered by RPGs. :P |
#10Ramar_AulinvoxFeb 21, 2005 14:18:23 | 23 |
#11zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2005 14:40:25 | I am 23, being do DS since 16 adn my brother(the DM) is 27 |
#12murkafFeb 21, 2005 14:40:46 | I'll be 36 on Thursday :D. :OMG! How was the Green Age? I hope you have min/maxed your stat increases. You're drawing close to the first age-related stats readjustment... -1 to Str, Dex, and Con; +1 to Int, Wis, and Cha :D |
#13nytcrawlrFeb 21, 2005 14:52:44 | I'll be 29 in the latter part of May here. |
#14pringlesFeb 21, 2005 15:05:10 | I was born in the year of the Priest Slumber. That make 21 yo :P |
#15lyricFeb 21, 2005 15:12:29 | i'm turning 25 this summer, and i've been playing since D&D since I was 9... (which I am very happy about since the box said ages 10 and up :P lol) |
#16zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2005 16:15:46 | The average with the new information has dropped to 26.12 years. Still a bit older than I would have expected. |
#17dawnstealerFeb 21, 2005 17:22:30 | I'll be 30 come June. |
#18zombiegleemaxFeb 21, 2005 17:25:30 | 23. |
#19ascianFeb 21, 2005 17:25:30 | 23 come July. |
#20dawnstealerFeb 21, 2005 18:49:13 | Oh. My. God. Ascian: you have to do something with that sig. ...maybe a few animated gifs? :P |
#21KamelionFeb 21, 2005 19:08:33 | Jee, I didn't recall you were that age man. Love you still, you old geezer :D Why, thankyou. I shall bake a special cake, just for you :D. How was the Green Age? Oh, you know. Big hair. Shoulder pads. The A-Team. I hope you have min/maxed your stat increases. I knew that phylactery would come in hand one of these days ;)... |
#22nytcrawlrFeb 21, 2005 19:36:20 | Oh, you know. Big hair. Shoulder pads. The A-Team.. Hey, the 80s ruled man. Then Metallica sold out, metal died (the metal I like anyways) and became that Nu Metal and Death Metal crap, we put a dumbarse monkey into office, and everything went to hell after that, heh. |
#23xlorepdarkhelm_dupFeb 21, 2005 21:36:10 | 29, will be 30 in October. |
#24dracochapelFeb 21, 2005 22:20:27 | 28 rapidly heading towards 29. D&D since i was 9 and Athas since i was 15. |
#25zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 2:19:32 | 25 :OMG! |
#26zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 4:31:27 | 29 is comming all too soon. I was thinking maybe all us old farts could pitch in and get a group rate discount on walkers and wheelchairs. We could also save a ton of money on dentures if we just shared a set . . . |
#27korvarFeb 22, 2005 5:41:06 | 35, 36 in June. |
#28brun01Feb 22, 2005 6:12:12 | 26. Playing DS since I was 16. All of a sudden, I feel a lot younger... |
#29zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 6:52:04 | we put a dumbarse monkey into office Which one? :D The average is now 26.77 years. |
#30shimFeb 22, 2005 7:46:02 | That's a pretty high average... huh, and my ex used to say RPGs were for kids... this means she was WRONG! :evillaugh As Athas is some years out of print, it makes sense that its players are some years older than the avarage roleplayer. I'm 25 btw |
#31SysaneFeb 22, 2005 8:03:11 | I'm 33 years young. :P |
#32zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 8:04:58 | Oh, and Nyt must have lived in an entirely different dimension in the 80's than I did. In my dimensional 80's, we always vote for monkeys and chimps for our higher government offices. |
#33murkafFeb 22, 2005 8:50:04 | Oh, you know. Big hair. Shoulder pads. The A-Team. Just had a disturbing mental vision of some of the Champions with beaver-cuts (coupe Longueuil, for those of the Québec persuasion), Kalid-Ma doing the ziggurat thing to get his hair to defy gravity, c:inlove:ck-r:inlove:ck bards inspiring vast armies... I pity the fool who wore shoulder pads |
#34the_peacebringerFeb 22, 2005 9:25:05 | Just had a disturbing mental vision of some of the Champions with beaver-cuts (coupe Longueil, for those of the Québec persuasion), Kalid-Ma doing the ziggurat thing to get his hair to defy gravity, c:inlove:ck-r:inlove:ck bards inspiring vast armies... Run for your lives!!! |
#35GrummoreFeb 22, 2005 11:06:31 | Just to continue to raise the number, your friendly neighborhood silly frog is 31 years old (32 in october). |
#36jobooFeb 22, 2005 12:04:43 | 26. And the hair is starting to migrate.... |
#37zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 12:52:39 | I'm 28 years old. As I expected, the average age is older than for most RPGs. Dark Sun takes some maturity to be played at its full potential... |
#38zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 13:18:55 | I'm 28 years old. Yeah I was going to post something about all the "whipper snappers" here, but then I realized two things: 1) Dark Sun came out when I was an early teen, so that must mean the fans here are at least in their early 20's. 2) The whole demographic for role playing has shifted to older ages due to the rise of video games. I just wanted to check my assumptions (so far my assumptions were correct). The average is now 27.13, with a standard deviation of 3.93 years. |
#39nytcrawlrFeb 22, 2005 13:33:31 | Which one? :D. GWB is the only dumbarse monkey I can think of that's in office currently. ;) |
#40sekerFeb 22, 2005 13:34:13 | heh.... guess I get to raise the age a bit myself..... as I just hit reverse thirteen..... And the 80's were great...... actual punk and goth music...... not to mention the old glam rock. (heh 80's music was great, sounded really perky and happy..... till you listened to the lyrics. Walking on broken glass anyone?) ;) :evillaugh |
#41nytcrawlrFeb 22, 2005 13:37:32 | And the 80's were great...... actual punk and goth music...... not to mention the old glam rock. (heh 80's music was great, sounded really perky and happy..... till you listened to the lyrics. Walking on broken glass anyone?) \m/ Rock on man. |
#42PennarinFeb 22, 2005 16:08:56 | Dark Sun takes some maturity to be played at its full potential... LOL! I haven't played DS since 10 years ago... Edit: Not out of choice, there just aren't any players in my region. If I move to Montreal I'll try and meet with the Montreal-based members of this board. |
#43methvezemFeb 22, 2005 17:33:54 | I'm 29 years old, 30 at the end of may. |
#44zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 17:45:38 | 22 & 1/2....funny it never seems that young |
#45zombiegleemaxFeb 22, 2005 20:00:16 | GWB is the only dumbarse monkey I can think of that's in office currently. ;) Well there were a couple of people in office since the 80's ended.... The average is 27.18 years and the standard deviation is 3.91 years |
#46the_peacebringerFeb 23, 2005 7:14:30 | LOL! I haven't played DS since 10 years ago... Wasn't Grummore there ten years ago? Ever played with him? |
#47PennarinFeb 23, 2005 7:48:25 | Wasn't Grummore there ten years ago? Ever played with him? That would make me about 14, and Grummore 20, both coming from different regions... |
#48murkafFeb 23, 2005 7:51:37 | LOL! I haven't played DS since 10 years ago... Same if you move to Ottawa or Gatineau? |
#49GrummoreFeb 23, 2005 8:04:46 | Wasn't Grummore there ten years ago? Ever played with him? Was at UQAR University from 1997 to 2000. I played a very nice DS game as DM with 4 peoples at least 5 hours a week (which was rather nice). One of my players was one of the actual PeaceB player. |
#50zombiegleemaxFeb 23, 2005 9:42:35 | I am just 20 years old. |
#51gilliard_derosanFeb 23, 2005 10:04:03 | Time to bring the average up just a tad. 29 in June Been Playing Dark Sun since it came out in 91.. so.. 14 years |
#52the_peacebringerFeb 23, 2005 10:20:24 | That would make me about 14, and Grummore 20, both coming from different regions... Yeah Ok, I'll give you that, I haven't done the math and it was more like 8 years but as Grum says... Was at UQAR University from 1997 to 2000. I played a very nice DS game as DM with 4 peoples at least 5 hours a week (which was rather nice). One of my players was one of the actual PeaceB player. Nothing's impossible, even in Rimouski. Wish you luck! BTW, anybody near Sherbrooke need a player? 'cause my campaign's on hold for a while. |
#53zombiegleemaxFeb 23, 2005 12:49:50 | Time to bring the average up just a tad. I've been playing DS for that long as well. You're age was offset by the youngest addition to the age list: average age: 27.02 years Standard deviation: 4.00 years Youngest: 20 Years Oldest: 36 |
#54rexarooFeb 23, 2005 13:18:51 | 33.75 |
#55lurking_shadowFeb 23, 2005 13:54:43 | 23. Been playing DS since late 91 or early 92; heh, I was 10 back then! |
#56zombiegleemaxFeb 24, 2005 2:40:17 | 24, DS DM since the beginning! |
#57zombiegleemaxFeb 24, 2005 10:52:29 | 24, DS DM since the beginning! Sounds like that's pretty common here. Average age: 27.01 years Standard deviation: 4.08 years Youngest: 20 years Oldest: 36 |
#58zombiegleemaxFeb 25, 2005 8:17:07 | I hit 40 while I was in Iraq, just outside of the Alluvian wastes. been playing since 1979. have taught both kids and 8 nieces and nephews. I DM like I'm ancient and play like I'm one of you young guys |
#59zombiegleemaxFeb 25, 2005 14:15:17 | Great Scott! The demographics have changed! Average age: 27.37 years Standard deviation: 4.56 years Youngest age: 20 years Oldest age: 40 years Sorry for the pun, I just couldn't resist. |
#60zombiegleemaxFeb 25, 2005 14:52:02 | Get it back to the average than... I'll be 28 in March. |
#61korvarFeb 25, 2005 18:44:47 | I hit 40 while I was in Iraq, just outside of the Alluvian wastes. been playing since 1979. have taught both kids and 8 nieces and nephews. No longer the oldest! Yay! I taunt you with your oldness! But envy for your DMing and playing |
#62zombiegleemaxFeb 27, 2005 21:27:08 | |
#63zombiegleemaxFeb 28, 2005 11:23:07 | No longer the oldest! Yay! I taunt you with your oldness! But envy for your DMing and playing hahahahaha yeah But I look 28 does that count? hahahahaha anyway, those of us with Avangion blood flowing through us have incredible Longevity |
#64jon_oracle_of_athasFeb 28, 2005 13:32:42 | My age is probably best left undefined. Or someone could dig up in some old age thread :P |
#65nytcrawlrFeb 28, 2005 13:34:32 | My age is probably best left undefined. Or someone could dig up in some old age thread :P Let's see, you just finished college not too long ago. 22-25 range? I'm putting my money on 23. |
#66jon_oracle_of_athasFeb 28, 2005 13:52:51 | Hey, who died and made you oracle, Nyt? :P |
#67dawnstealerFeb 28, 2005 19:05:13 | Jon, us old-timers are good at predicting you whipper-snapper's ages. |
#68alhadisFeb 28, 2005 19:51:32 | I'm only 17 (turning 18 in one-and-a-half months... *sigh*), but I've been into Dark Sun ever since I was old enough to read a book (FYI, I've got a memory that's so frikkin' accurate, I can literally recall in detail when my mother was teaching me to put on a pair of socks. o_0; Seriously). All happened when I entered my dad's study one evening and found him addicted to ye olde Dark Sun: Shattered Lands CRPG that had him hooked; to the point where he'd completely overlooked the fact that 3-year olds aren't supposed to be awake at 1:00 in the morning. ;) Since then, I've had an avid fascination for the setting that existed before I even knew what D&D really was. >_<; Weird, ne? |
#69zombiegleemaxFeb 28, 2005 20:46:45 | I'm 24, turning 25 in april! And been playing since.. hum.. 10 years maybe? I started with DarkSun and old Grummore was the DM. I still remember my TK .. I had more Powers and PP than the psion in the group.. hehehe |
#70nytcrawlrFeb 28, 2005 21:12:11 | Hey, who died and made you oracle, Nyt? :P Mwuahahahaha! |
#71zombiegleemaxFeb 28, 2005 21:40:57 | 30 years along this road. Been playing DnD since I was 15 and DMed DS when I was in college for my frist group. |
#72alhadisFeb 28, 2005 23:56:37 | Mwuahahahaha! *tears out Nyt's eyeballs and runs them to the nearest French nightclub* "I've found your stupid "Eyes of the Oracle"! Now tell me where Neo's found, or I'll take that cheesy French accent of your's and stuff it some place where the Dark Sun doesn't shine!" XD ~ Shameless Matrix Reference - Shameful attempt at sounding witty o_0; |
#73dawnstealerMar 01, 2005 0:57:19 | It's all right: you're an ozzie: they're almost as weird as french-canadians. Not sane, like us Americans. ...Now where did I put my freedom fries and freedom toast? Guess I'll have to go invade the fridge. |
#74jon_oracle_of_athasMar 01, 2005 2:27:08 | Blame Canada, Blame Canada. With their beady little eyes and their heads stuffed full of lies. Blame Canada. Blame Caaaanaaaadaaaaa. /South Park mode off. |
#75jon_oracle_of_athasMar 01, 2005 2:27:52 | Jon, us old-timers are good at predicting you whipper-snapper's ages. Except he already knew. |
#76dawnstealerMar 01, 2005 3:44:41 | No, no: I'm sure it was wisdom gained from many, many years of insight and experience. |
#77nytcrawlrMar 01, 2005 13:31:05 | No, no: I'm sure it was wisdom gained from many, many years of insight and experience. Yeah, yeah, that's it. /me whistles innocently |
#78alhadisMar 01, 2005 23:57:55 | It's all right: you're an ozzie: they're almost as weird as french-canadians. Not sane, like us Americans. No, that's "Aussie" you're thinking of. XD And we're not weird, we're just... unique. :P Footballs, wallabies, a pub for every three people in the country and water restrictions aren't exactly "crazy". And your fries/toast are probably in the "Free"-zah. ;-_-; [/end hopeless PUN] PS: And oh yeah, figuring out somebody's age is a lot easier then figuring out their gender when it comes to message boards. Go figure. |
#79dawnstealerMar 02, 2005 0:16:29 | Safe bet's on the fact that probably close to 98% of us are dudes (that one, Nyt, was gender-specific). |
#80alhadisMar 02, 2005 1:17:43 | And naturally, the remaining 2% are blokes pretending to be girls. :D Right, Jon? *dodges chatkcha* Hey, I was only kiddin'! |
#81dawnstealerMar 02, 2005 1:39:18 | Exactly. |
#82zombiegleemaxMar 02, 2005 7:51:40 | I will be 31 in May |
#83murkafMar 02, 2005 8:54:18 | No, no: I'm sure it was wisdom gained from many, many years of insight and experience. I thought his age could be determined by counting the jagged edges around the scars left by his Oracular Flensing Bolts... |
#84zombiegleemaxMar 02, 2005 18:26:24 | I have turned 21 four times! Amazing. -introneurotic |
#85zombiegleemaxMar 02, 2005 21:05:46 | Updating that I hit 29 on the 26th . . . my head still aches very badly (and I've no clue where I got this tattoo from either). I do intend to stay 29 for a long time, perhaps a few generations or more. |
#86nytcrawlrMar 02, 2005 21:25:17 | Updating that I hit 29 on the 26th . . . my head still aches very badly (and I've no clue where I got this tattoo from either). I do intend to stay 29 for a long time, perhaps a few generations or more. Happy belated then. |
#87PennarinMar 02, 2005 23:24:39 | I hit 29 on the 26th Booo, I missed it. On the bright side, you don't look a day older than 25! Must be all that yummy coffee... |
#88KamelionMar 03, 2005 4:00:47 | Updating that I hit 29 on the 26th . . . my head still aches very badly (and I've no clue where I got this tattoo from either). I do intend to stay 29 for a long time, perhaps a few generations or more. Happy Birthday! Have some cake - I still have a bit left over ;) |
