As far as I can tell, only Thanegioth, Ierendi, and Ylaruam actually list dinosaurs among their monsters. I wonder why they are located in the last two nations? It is interesting that the histories of Ylaruam/Nithia and the Ierendi Islands have a connection. Perhaps the Ierendi dinosaurs are the remnants of Malphaggi Swamp dinosaurs (maybe). So what are your thoughts on this? Is it weird having dinosaurs in Ylaruam? |

The gaz says there are the Allosaurus (from X1), Ankylosaurus (X1), Dimetrodon (X1), Triceratops (X1), and Tyrannosaurus (X1), as well as generic Dinosaur (X, X1) and "Reptile, Giant" with no source book or supplement given. So that's quite a range of types. ...perhaps pets of the Carnifex released/summoned by the Nithians? Interesting possibility; I like it. The mountains could make a convienent barrier to keep them in the Alysian Basin. Except for those captured and removed for use in say, I don't know... maybe the coliseums of Thyatis(and I explained to my players that the triceratop they fought in Thyatis' Coliseum when they were slaves came from islands far to the south in the Sea of Dread!). |

That said, don't forget Barrimoor, who can be blamed for most of what is wrong in Ylaruam - perhaps he is breeding/introducing them for some reason? One other explanation is that their presence is a side-effect of the destruction of Nithia, but I don't like that one either... |

The ones in Ierendi are probably escaped from whatever adventure park might have imported them for showing. I'm sure that one of them did. Ylaruam, who knows. |
