After reading through the Masque Of The Red Death sourcebook, I have struck upon an idea to run a campaign, or at least, a one-shot adventure, based around the ideas of Alan Moore's graphic novels and the more recent movie adaptation of The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, featuring such characters as Mina Harker, Alan Quartermain, Capt. Nemo, The Invisible Man, Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde, Dorian Gray and Tom Sawyer.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might go about statting up the potentially legendary Victorian heroes for a Masque Of The Red Death campaign?

I would not suggest to work with them as work for them.

Otherwise, it might too much go on the superhero side and that would be dull after a time. But if they get to know one of them and be given smaller inquiries, that proves very dangerous or crucial, it would be fun.

The martian adventure is easy to adapt, as are some ideas from the movie (but otherwise the movie is dumb, dull and useless. Mina as a vampire ? Idiot)

Mina Harker-either a vampire spawn rogue with high knowledge and craft skills or the same class and skills but using vampire bloodlines from the arcana book.
Alan Quartermain-ranger elderly, make use of the age stat alterations
Capt. Nemo-Artificier from the eberron book with some combat training or a Fighter with loads of craft and knowledge skills
The Invisible Man- Griffon(graphic novels) a few levels in expert then go hogwild with rogue. under the perminate effect of a faulty invisibility potion
skinner(Movie)-loose the expert levels and go standard rogue
Dr. Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde- Jeckyll is a Mid to low level wizard/transmutation specialty. takes a potion and becomes Hyde a hulking brute of a Babarian
Dorian Gray(Movie only for now, heard rumors that he, Orlando and possibly Sawyer will appear in the 3rd book of the League)Aristocrat then PrC into dualist. The immortality is simple all damage is counted as subdual. if his picture is damaged he dies.(I prefer the Dorian Gray of the book to the movie Gray in that regards. as the book Grey spend days watching his sins reveal themselves in the picture)
Tom Sawyer-(Movie) if you wish to use him, urban Ranger variant

I'll try to make something more in-depth later on, but here's a quick version of how I'd imagine them.

Allan Quatermain, 7-10th level explorer.
Mina Harker, 5-7th level intellectual, maybe with the forbidden loremaster PrC.
Dr Jekyll, 5-7th level scholar with the alchemical philosopher PrC from van Richten's Arsenal. When transforming, increase size to Large, add a bonus of 6-8 to Strength and Constitution, attack bonus and saving throws as a fighter, mental scores and personality become those of Mr. Hyde.
Griffin (the Invisible Man), 5-7th level criminal, maybe with the spy PrC.
Nemo, 7-10th level mechanic with the master inventor PrC.

I haven't seen the movie (nor do I intend to, as it seems bad), so I can't help with those characters. Once I get back to my books I can try to make something more useful.

It is worth noting that I am working Dorian Grey for a Quoth the Raven article, it should appear in issue 13. Sorry it isn't sooner, but I have had major set backs due to a death in the family.

Is Dorian going to be a MotRD character? If not, you might do well to update Angelique Moliere from The Forgotten Children, who's basically Gray with a sex-change.

I wrote a load about the league of gentlemen, then I realised we were talking about the wrong thing.

You should definitly go by the comics and not the movie.
Characters that they used in the comics, which did not mkae the cut in the movie are:

Fu Manchu : An excellent character, very sinister and very smart. The way he is used in the comic is perfect as the way Sax Rohmer described him.

Dr. Moreau : He was used in the Second series. He developed the intelligent virus that is used to destroy the Martian Invaders.

There were a few others, but I can't think of them off of the top of my head. I can't remember if Professor Moriarty was in the film.

FYI, Sawyer was written in the the same period as many of those other characters, but it was set fifty years much earlier. The first book took place around 1845 making Tomas around 55 or so, give or take a few years.

Sawyer is used in the movie to poor effect (but then again, everything in the movie was to poor effect.) He was a New York cop.
Really, everything in the comic is to good use, but superscience should be kept to a minimum in a Ravenloft game. (unless it's Hyde-style tainted superscience. Real Hyde (psychological monster), not comic Hyde (literal monster)).
It's all about themes. Lovecraftian aliens are far more suitable than Wellsian aliens, IMO.
