Hello everyone,

I have the t:o.h.s. and saw some brief translations of the arcane language and was wondering were I would obtain more material?

Thank you for your time.

Refer to any convenient Indonesian or Malay dictionary. Magius (and Nerakan) is heavily influenced by the languages of South-East Asia, as this is where Tracy Hickman spent some time as a missionary.

Cheers,

Speaking of the languages of magic, would Low and High Magius be considered secret langauges? For that matter is there a High Magius language? Also would all wizards be granted Low Magius as an automatic language at 1st level and High Magius when they pass the test? Looking for something quasi-official.

I use both as secret languages so only a few classes are able to read it and it is virtually undecipherable via a Decipher Script check (DC 25 for Low Magius and DC 30 for High Magius). I also grant all 1st level wizards Low Magius as an automatic language and then those who take The Test are granted access to it after passing it. I figure 3rd level spells and up are written using High Magius or a combination of Low and High Magius. Renegades are able to learn it as well, but it is much more difficult as they usually don't have access Webster's Dictionary of High Magius.

It's on p. 45 of ToHS. The words are taken from what is commonly known as "Low Magius" the dialect of the language of magic taught to students and apprentices. Based on that I have supposed that there being a Low Magius taught to students there would be a High Maguis for more advanced practioners.
