#2bdpenneyMar 16, 2005 21:20:44 | Hmmmmmm, looks neat! Now all we need is the RPGA to get a clue and release the 'Best of' scenereos for Living Greyhawk for the rest of the world to play (or just take special orders for them and ony print what's ordered to keep costs down). THAT would make it a perfect world. |
#3HalberkillMar 16, 2005 21:37:06 | What miffs me is that WotC is releasing a FR Adventure path series. But I thought they said modules wouldn't sell? Bularky! Halber |
#4zombiegleemaxMar 16, 2005 23:12:00 | That Adventure Path is not set in FR. It is generic, but "semi-officially" located in the Flanaess (as per the new GH map in Dungeon). |
#5ividMar 17, 2005 1:42:40 | Great news! With that, we have a return of the supermodules *of old*! I mean 416 pages, that's HEAVY... On the other hand, there's the price... Will be a though decision to buy that book or the upcoming Wilderlands box.... :D |
#6omoteMar 17, 2005 9:08:30 | On the other hand, there's the price... Will be a though decision to buy that book or the upcoming Wilderlands box.... I believe the Wilderlands box set will be real, when I hold it in my own two hands! As for the Shackled City in one big book, I applaud Paizo for doing this! This is something that most of us have been waiting for, for a long time. I don't particularly like Shackled City in GH (just not my flavor), but if this product sells well, it could open the door for GH ppructs to be released in this manner from paizo as well. Like a "best of" GH from the pages of Dungeon magazine... *hopes* ........................................Omote FPQ |
#7AmarilMar 17, 2005 9:25:39 | OK, so I'm out of the loop. What is the Wilderlands Box Set? By the way, there's a thread discussing the AP book on Paizo's site. A few of the peeps from Paizo have posted responses to some of the questions. http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/dungeon/adventurePath/shackledCityAdventurePathHardcoverAnnounced |
#8omoteMar 17, 2005 9:58:19 | the Wilderlands box set that is supposed to come out sometime late this year is a v3.5 update to the old Judges Guild setting. Recently Judges Guild put out the hardback book City State of the Invincible Overlord (an absolutely great book IMO). The Players Guide to the Wilderlands has been out for a few years now, another great book that just whets the appetite for Judges' Guild fans. It's a cool, "old-school" setting that is supposedly getting the uber treatment. The Wilderlands box set is supposed come with all of the information and updates Judges Guild fans have been waiting for for a decade! #9zombiegleemaxMar 17, 2005 12:01:22 | Adventure Path 1 isn't really GH but Path 2 is going to be. So if AP1's hardback sells well, a Greyhawky Adventure Path Hardback might not be far off... Stu |
#10zombiegleemaxMar 17, 2005 14:22:18 | Actually the 2nd AP was originally going to be specifically Greyhawk based. It has since been scaled back to be as campaign specific as the original AP. Much to most GHer's dismay. Hopefully the city names and other place holders still are based in Greyhawk along with the deities and such. |
#11omoteMar 17, 2005 15:27:16 | Dang, that is hard to hear about AP2. I was really looking forward to some GH goodness. Oh well. *sighs* ......................................Omote FPQ |
#12MerricBMar 17, 2005 17:18:46 | What miffs me is that WotC is releasing a FR Adventure path series. They're not. They're doing a one-off Forgotten Realms adventure; Gamingreport was mistaken. (I've had confirmation of that from Rich Baker). But I thought they said modules wouldn't sell? Adventures don't sell well, however, they help sell the other books. Wizards said last year that, given the drop off in adventures from the 3rd party publishers, they'd start getting back into printing adventures - though they haven't really done very many. (3 Eberron + 1 FR in slightly over a year). It should also be noted that the book "Battlefield Adventures!" was renamed to "Heroes of Battle" because retailers and distributors didn't want it because adventures don't sell; regardless of the fact that it actually wasn't an adventure book. Wizards appear to be testing the waters again, but I suspect that they'll once again discover that despite the vocal people on the messageboards who say, "We want adventures!" that it is only a small minority of people who actually buy them. Did you buy the Eberron adventures? I certainly did (and I'm running one this evening). Cheers! |
#13ividMar 18, 2005 6:04:52 | It's a cool, "old-school" setting that is supposedly getting the uber treatment. The Wilderlands box set is supposed come with all of the information and updates Judges Guild fans have been waiting for for a decade! Dave Arneson's Blackmoor was located there, too. I can only recommend buying the Gaz; it's best and most comprehensive 3e book I've seen so far, and it can provide you with a ton of new ideas, although it is not specifically Greyhawk, of course. For possible hook-ups, I'd locate The Valley of the Ancient in the Burneal Forest, East-Valon being a country of the tiger nomads... Besides the area fits good for the southern coast of the Celestial Imperium and the Kingdom of the Marches... (Well, would be a bit forced, but one can try... ;)) I like it a LOT, however! R :D |
#14HalberkillMar 18, 2005 21:22:54 | They're not. They're doing a one-off Forgotten Realms adventure; Gamingreport was mistaken. (I've had confirmation of that from Rich Baker). That is good news. I don't begrudge the FR their adventures, just as long as GH gets it's own. It should also be noted that the book "Battlefield Adventures!" was renamed to "Heroes of Battle" because retailers and distributors didn't want it because adventures don't sell; regardless of the fact that it actually wasn't an adventure book. The FOOLS! ...despite the vocal people on the messageboards who say, "We want adventures!" that it is only a small minority of people who actually buy them. I can't help it if people don't want what's good for them. They will always take teeth rotting candy over an apple anyday. Did you buy the Eberron adventures? I certainly did (and I'm running one this evening). Yes, I have bought all of the eberron adventures even though I don't particularly like eberron, and have not bought the main eberron book. I am using them for my SWRPG though. Halber |
