#1wolffenjugend_dupMar 16, 2005 23:18:13 | How do you handle what can be found in a kender's pouches? Up to now we've been rolling off a random list of items but it's kind of a headache to keep track of everything. Does anyone have an alternative method of handling this? Maybe a % chance that a kender can pull something useful out of a pouch when it's needed? Having a master list of interesting items is, well, interesting but it wears thin after a while and the whole aspect of items in a kender's pouch gets pushed to the backburner b/c it really isn't that relevant since the items are usually useless, but interesting. Thoughts? |

If you want a variant to the Rogue class specifically for kender the Handler core class (from Kipper's kencyclopedia) comes in handy. here's the link. http://www.kencyclopedia.com/kender/classes/TavinsHandler.cfm |

#5borrisMar 25, 2005 20:04:03 | I personally tend to greater dislike the pouch generator at Kencyclopedia. One tenth of what it generates seems to be as useful as a minor magic item. I just rolled 20 items and got a Dust of random teleport, as well as a silly object that still allows you to use comprehend languages at will. For low-level pouches, I rather the following tables: 3-8 Mundane Items (DMG p.56), Giants' Bags (MM p.120), and occasionally 3-12 Minor Features and Furnishing (DMG p.66). More useless junk than you could dream of. |
#6hatrelMar 29, 2005 17:07:49 | There used to be a great Kender Pockets generator in a Dragon Magazine YEARS ago. I have been trying to locate it and have been unsuccessful as of yet... |
#7wolffenjugend_dupMar 29, 2005 20:29:11 | The thing I don't like about the kencyclopedia generator is that there's no way to only exclude the "humerous" entries. And they should drop the names of the contributors (waste of space). |

And they should drop the names of the contributors (waste of space). Huh? The different categories are selected by checkboxes so you can select everything but the humerous stuff, or "just" normal type items, or any combination. Kender Pouch List And as far as the names go I suppose I could add an option to display the items with them or without them. You know people that submit stuff what recognition for it, but I understand that it may not be as useful for gaming purposes. |
#9wolffenjugend_dupMar 30, 2005 10:59:05 | Are there more than one pouch generator on your website? I was using the one from the link listed above in the thread. It's: http://www.kencyclopedia.com/kender/pouches/random.cfm That version does not allow selection of multiple boxes. Your link does, however, which makes it much more useful to me. Thanks! |
#10kipper_snifferdoo_02Mar 30, 2005 11:03:06 | Are there more than one pouch generator on your website? I was using the one from the link listed above in the thread. It's: Ahh I see. My bad. If you click on "Kender Pouch List" you get the link I displayed. But if you click on "Random Pouch List" you get the link you displayed. Looks like I'll need to make a note to modify the random pouch list like the regular one. Thanks for pointing that out. |
#11shugiMar 30, 2005 20:55:10 | I created a kender-hero class awhile back that has a "Kender Pouches" ability you may find useful. It was specifically meant to give the kender the chance to pull useful items out in times of need. Here's the link: http://www.kencyclopedia.com/kender/classes/Accidental.cfm |
#12wolffenjugend_dupMar 31, 2005 9:24:33 | Yeah, I took a look at that but I was looking for a broader list with not-only useful items. I ended up using items from a variety of lists and compiling them into a list of 100. I also modified a fair number of the items to expand upon their listed ability and to adjust them to what would be found in our game. As our kender pulls items, I'll check them off and add others. The only tedious part was deleting all the humourous items (everyone thinks they're a comedian) and deleting all the contributor names (waste of space). I subsequently found out there was another list that allows filtering out the humourous, which will provide useful in future. My original query was more along the lines of how do you handle kender items rather than what the specific items are. I find that our kender would simply keep pulling items out of his pouches until he found something really good, so I had to come up with a limit on the number if items that could be pulled per day. There's also the problem of keeping track of what items have been pulled, so I give the kender a 50/50 chance that an item previously pulled will still be there if sought again. |
