#1pringlesApr 27, 2005 11:35:49 | Where did you put mine and quarries in your Dark sun world? I have an Iron mine south of Tyr Verdant bell and that the only one. There also two old depleted iron mine around Tyr haunted by undead and hungry beast. There an old depleted copper mine near Silver spring and Nibenay have a copper mine in the Black spine. Urik have its obsidian quarries in Makla (I once played a game inspired by Freedom were the PC were slave working in these quarries, it was pretty deadly.) Raam have a gem mine and a small silver mine in the mountain south of the city (near the silt). House Tomblador have the gold mine near Kalidnay (forgot the name of the village) and a small Brass mine near Altaruk in the mountain. That all. |
#2dawnstealerApr 27, 2005 11:40:58 | Silver mine near Balic. I have an aquaduct on that map of Balic coming in from the mountains to the Northwest. Nearby that is the mine. Oh, trade village with the gold mine is Walis. |
#3pringlesApr 27, 2005 11:51:58 | Ok, no balician silver mine for me. They have enough with the gold mine. |
#4dawnstealerApr 27, 2005 11:56:51 | I think silver was one of the things they exported, but unfortunately my copy of Dune Traders is packed. Anyone else got a line on that one? |
#5KamelionApr 27, 2005 12:09:38 | According to Dune Trader, Balic and Raam both export silver. Nibenay and South Ledopolus export copper and Walis exports gold. And, of course, Tyr exports iron and Urik exports obsidian. |
#6pringlesApr 27, 2005 12:12:46 | I have Dune trader and I think the map of merchant in it is complety wrong. Like Urik importing obsidian (???) Balic exporting salt (???) but not Gulg or Nibenay (they are near the salt flat god damnit, Leopoldus south exporting copper but they build a bridge over silt to get a silex quarries protected by giants (why bother with silex when you have copper?) I scrapped it and changed it all over. |
#7beyowulfApr 27, 2005 12:16:10 | Heh, I thought this topic was referring to Athasian Mimes. As in some sort of new Bard PrC. |
#8murkafApr 27, 2005 12:19:19 | I think Nibenay, and maybe Salt View have salt mines in the Great Ivory Plains. |
#9KamelionApr 27, 2005 12:33:07 | I have Dune trader and I think the map of merchant in it is complety wrong. Well, if you look at the map, you'll see that Makla exports obsidian and Urik imports it (to later export it to other cities, one would assume). The map is showing the route of the obsidian trade - Urik itself doesn't have any obsidian fields - they are over in Makla. Balic exporting salt is a bit, odd, though... |
#10SysaneApr 27, 2005 12:42:39 | Lets not forget the poo-flinging-monkey-mines of Raam. |
#11murkafApr 27, 2005 12:44:48 | Balic exporting salt is a bit, odd, though... Maybe they sell it to the Giants? Or trade salt for giant hair? Or export it to Ur-Draxa or Euripis? Because I guess Balic would be the last place this side of the Sea of Silt a salt convoy would reach safely. |
#12KamelionApr 27, 2005 12:48:11 | Lets not forget the poo-flinging-monkey-mines of Raam. I thought these were depleted? :P Maybe they sell it to the Giants? I meant that it was odd because there are no salt flats near Balic, afaik. Where do they get it from? Maybe it was typo, and they really export silt... y'think? |
#13pringlesApr 27, 2005 12:58:10 | There a salt flat south of Leopoldus south. I put an ex-slave village right in the middle of it in my campaign and my player had to get there. |
#14murkafApr 27, 2005 13:03:50 | I meant that it was odd because there are no salt flats near Balic, afaik. Where do they get it from? Maybe it was typo, and they really export silt... y'think? :heehee Now you can buy the mundane equivalent of this cursed Magical Item: Dust of Sneezing and Choking: This fine dust appears to be dust of appearance. If cast into the air, it causes those within a 20- foot spread to fall into fits of sneezing and coughing. Those failing a DC 15 Fortitude save take 2d6 points of Constitution damage immediately. In addition, those failing a second DC 15 Fortitude save 1 minute later are dealt 1d6 points of Constitution damage. Those who succeed on either saving throw are nonetheless disabled by choking (treat as stunned) for 5d4 rounds. What would be the cost of a pound of silt? |
#15dawnstealerApr 27, 2005 13:24:10 | It says in one of the books that they get the salt from the Great Salt Flat to the south of Balic (on the other side of the estuary). Not sure where I read that: might have been a dream I had. A sweet, sweet dream of poo-tossing monkeys... Anyways, that's not how salt is mined at all: Salt mine info. If you just scooped it off the ground, Salt Lake City would be the crown jewel of the salt-mining empire. That's not the case - it would be like going down to the ocean and setting up an evaporator: it's still salt, but it's not the "good" kind. In short, Gulg and Nibenay likely wouldn't be able to simply walk out with a shovel and start filling buckets - it would taste like crap. Out side of poo-tossers, nobody likes crap. On your side, Pringles, I found the map was a good starting point, but like so much in that book, had a few inconsistencies. With Urik, they do import obsidian, it just happens to be from Makla, which is owned by Urik (or a "client village"). Outside of that, ...actually, here's a better question for everyone: List your imports and exports for each city and village. Barring that, list imports and exports common in the Tyr region (and beyond?). |

OOOOOOOOHhhhhhhh Her Majesty won't have any of my poo-tasting salt... Maybe you eat your bread without silt mixed into the flour??? Or don't eat anything that's fallen in the alehouse vomitorium??? Or don't drink anything in which a hung-over half-giant has peed??? Excuse me, I'll go sell my salt to REAL connaisseurs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, that's not how salt is mined at all: Salt mine info. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. |
#17dawnstealerApr 27, 2005 14:09:03 | That's pretty gross, Murkaf. I think I might have to go visit that vomitorium now. (stupid breakfast filling my tummy with bitter yumminess). |

#19ruhl-than_sageApr 27, 2005 17:46:04 | House Tomblador have the gold mine near Kalidnay (forgot the name of the village) and a small Brass mine near Altaruk in the mountain. Sorry to get technical on you, but you can't mine Brass :P ; it is an alloy of Copper and Zinc ( either Zinc or Tin, but I think that copper and tin makes Bronze). So thats something to think about: Zinc and Tin mines. |
#20pringlesApr 27, 2005 18:22:41 | Ya your right, im all wrong, its not brass. I know the word in french but not in english. Its for Bronze. Its made with copper and another metal I dont know the word in english (it's |
