#1wolffenjugend_dupMay 04, 2005 14:33:48 | I've been doing some research recently on dwarven history in DL and I must say I'd hate to be living in Thorbardin. First the dwarves settle Kal-Thax on the coast of modern Nordmaar. They then settle a new delve in Thoradin. Kal-Thax is forgotten/disappears. The dwarves settle Thorbardin and the Cataclysm strikes. Thoradin is completely destroyed. The dwarves settle Kayolin. Thorbardin is... ??? Guess which delve is next on the list of soon-to-be-destroyed dwarf delves... |

#5wolffenjugend_dupMay 05, 2005 9:25:07 | I don't think Thorbardin was completely destroyed, just very heavily damaged. Thoradin was completely destroyed during the Cataclysm. Zhakar lives on. |

It was hevily damaged during the Chaos War. Hybardin was completly destroyed when the massize stalagtite that the city was carved out of broke off and tumbled into the waters below creating an island of broken stone and dwarves that were burried alive. Most of the other cities sustaned heavy damage and many of the remaining dwarves (from all clans) moved to the North Gate and formed Norbardin (I belive that is the name.) 2. Pax Tharkas. The dwarves dedicated to Tarn Bellowsgranite all followed the exiled former king here. 3. Garnet-thax. Has remaind the most prosperous (and in-tact) of dwarven kingdom's. The Hylar and Daewar are the major clans there along with the Hill Dwarves of the region. 4. Thoradin. Thoradin was destroyed during the Cataclsym with the exception of the deepest city built by the Theiwar. They were trapped for years and began to call themselves the Zhakar. Prior to the War of Souls Thoradin was reclaimed by Severus Stonehand, a religious zealot and mystic who lead many Dawear dwarves, hill dwarves and dwarves from other clans under his rulership to Thoradin where they cast out the Zhakar and took the ancient lands for themselves. (Actually Severus went there with the intent to heal the Zhakar, but they wouldn't accept. Then he cast them out.) 5. Zhakar now live in locations all around Thoradin waiting to strike at the Light Loving dwarves for outsing them. I think that covers most of it. |

#8kipper_snifferdoo_02May 05, 2005 9:58:09 | This incorporates the events of Dark Thane? Yup. Sorry for any spoilers. Although that novel has been out for a while, heh. |
#9NivedMay 06, 2005 12:24:07 | Spoilers from dark thane... though really this type of discussion is the point of the thread so I don't know why I bother. About 2 years afte the War of Souls there was a civil war in what's left of Thorbardin, Tarn lost and was exiled. Jungor, a hylar who is quite insane, is now high thane and has completely locked Thorbarding off from the rest of the world... did I mention he's insane? |
