i have a player who can fly (aaracokra) ok now acording to the athas .org this player can see double the distance in low light vision ?ok in the 3.5 dms guide it would have me rool for the maximum well this is a problem for me to set encounter distance also she is always asking what does she see "do i see try yet balic ect during game play so i took the maximum distance in the plain terrain because again her vision isnt blocked by desert storms ect.. that would be 1400' at daylight and by the moons 2800 wow what the !@#$$ ok so some help here is much appreciate. I also have tried the spot versus hide but this is a problem what happens if its something not activley hidding ? and if the maximum distance is right what in the world can she make out at this distance a liilte blur ?and how about when she is flying over the sea of silt how far can she see?
sorry i know its along post but im at a lost.
2.now next question(hehe-gotta couple ) so the new druid rules they have there own spells or domain ?in other words they dont choose a element anymore?

...I don't know. Can someone translate please?

You did who for how much? Sorry, I'm lost here too. Where, in 3.0/3.5E rules, has Druids ever had a Domain?

3.what in the world in the revised setting is in the crimson tower creatures that come out when the moons are full?

Huh?

4.please any ideas at all on what started the great earth quake to the west?

There's been many, many, many ideas and theories. Not in much of a mood to go over them all, maybe someone else can provide (so far, this is the only question I actually comprehended).

LEngth isn't the problem - as we have anumber of long post writers, and you hardly fall into that category. My issue is that words you were using made no sense together. Can you try and clean it up a bit? I'm totally baffled as to what the hell you are talking about, especially in the first block of text. Also, punctuation and spacing are your friends, and grammar + spelling at least helps others be able to understand what you want. No offense, but I can't help you at all from what you posted above. Sorry.

I'll give these a shot:

1.ok the maximum limit of vision is making me nuts so a little help please...[etc]

While flying at a great height, the Aarakocra's amazing vision allows it to see very far. This is kind of where "GM's judgement" comes into play. Have the Aarakocra make a spot check vs a base DC of about 15 or so. If it's really far, or the environment makes for poor vision (dust clouds, etc), make it harder (DC of 20+ aren't unreasonable). If it's night, and there's a dust storm, DC's of 30+ are reasonable.

2.now next question(hehe-gotta couple ) so the new druid rules they have there own spells or domain ?in other words they dont choose a element anymore?

Two ways to go with this one: they have access to the spells listed in Athas.org's 3.5e Dark Sun conversion, or just give them access to all the spells.

3.what in the world in the revised setting is in the crimson tower creatures that come out when the moons are full?

This is kind of a "fill in the blank" kind of question. Best bet is Baatezu (Devils), but it could be anything your little heart desires.

4.please any ideas at all on what started the great earth quake to the west?

Anyone's guess but the popular one making the rounds recently is that it was caused by the Wanderer (comet) slamming into Athas.

The rules for low-light vision say that a creature with this ability can can see twice as far as a human can in low-light conditions. NOTE - this does not mean that your Aarakocra can see twice as far at night as it can in the day.

So, as an example, a human with a torch can see 20 feet at night (IIRC). So, a creature with low-light vision and a torch can see twice that far at night (so 40 feet).

Hope that helps

I have agree with Xlore about your post, but I was able to understand some of it despite the poor grammar and lack of clarity.

In regards to the question about the rules for vision; just use your own judgement and imagination. As the DM you make up everything in the game anyway, so make that up too. I don't think you need to follow a complex set of rules just to determine what someone can see. Personally the only time I even think about the rules for vision range is when the light source is very limited like the above mentioned torch or a lamp or lantern.

As for the Druids, I think you are refering to the fact that Druids use to choose a primary and secondary element that represented their guarded lands connection to the elements. If that's the case, then yes they don't have specific elemental affliations anymore. I would just suggest using the Druid spell list out of the player's handbook, they have many elemental spells anyway.

What the Hell is the Crimson Tower?

As for the Earthquake, I think Earthquakes are usually caused by sifting tectonic plates. If you don't like that the Kreen nation has finished their preparations to invade, and their Zik-Chil leaders caused it to happen by making a huge earthquake machine :P .

What the Hell is the Crimson Tower?

Probably "The Crimson Monolith".

It's in the southern part of the map provided with the "Expanded and Revised Campaign Setting".

It's vaguely mentioned and hardly described in "The Wanderer's Chronicle".

Ok, there's two points I have to make to you over this - and then I'll just step out of his discussion, as apparently you are incapable of taking criticism, and attempting to even remotely be polite or tactful in what you say.
  • Post wasn't long - stop apologizing for a long post when your post wasn't even in the area code of long for this forum. People said that wasn't the problem.
  • Don't get so defensive. Why is it that people can't even ask for an effort towards grammar and spelling that promotes communication without being personally attacked? Chill, why don't you? I quite literally could not understand what you were saying. I asked for clarification. I didn't make any personal attacks, so ther's no reason to take it so personally. Why not simply clarify? I'm glad others could understand what you said in your first post, because it still eludes me.

That said, Xlor, I can see why he misread you. When strangers criticize you, it's not unusual to misinterpret and feel they're attacking you. Especially on the net with its horrible lack of media richness.

I'll throw my one bit into the mix and suggest that EVERYONE run their posts through a spellchecker before they submit it. I always write up my post in the "Reply the Tread" box and then cut it out and open up MS Word and spell check it. My freshmen comp. teacher told me that I would right really well, but I couldn't spell for s t.

Sorry dude, but no one wants to struggle reading your posts if they cannot read it- especially when you are asking for help. I don't even think that I made it past the first paragraph.

CAN"T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!! :D

Well, you know what I say about spelling, right? If not, I'll give you a hint - it's in blue, in my signature (and usually in all my signatures on every forum I can have a signature). Spelling mistakes aren't all that bad. But when compounded with extraordinarily poor grammar, spacing, and punctuation, this complicates the ability to facilitate communication with another individual (that's a lot of big words lol... umm.... oh well). The thing that really gets me is when people intentionally misspell constantly in an attempt to "look cool" - the so-called "leet speak" I've seen spring up all over the place, which has hardly any style, and does little more than make the poster look really dumb. But, that's neither here nor there, as that kind of typing isn't at all common on this forum, fortunately.
