#2zombiegleemaxMay 06, 2005 14:51:46 | Hello I'd recommend the novel 'Sea of Death' by Gygax and the module WG12 Vale of the Mage. Otherwise here is a list of references Ive compiled on these places. Andre Norton's novel Quag Keep also had an interesting take on the Sea of Dust, though it has a different explanation for how it came to be. Greyhawk Adventures also had all the information you need on the Valley of the Mage. Basically all you need to know is that the Mage is an exiled wizard from the Great Kingdom, his lover and second in command is a neutral (or chaotic neutral, I forget) rogue drow, he's served mostly by elves and gnomes, and he plans on becoming a shade very shortly. I would emphasize shadowmagic among all the inhabitants of the Vale. |

Tysiln San (the Mage's lover and 2nd in command) is a CN drow conjurer, not rogue (at least she is in all the sources I referenced). And for those who use the LGG (which used WG12 as having some validity with regards to the Valley), it strongly implies he's left Oerth to complete his transformation to shade (part of his obsession with finding a way to become immortal) and that it's left the Necromancers who snuck in from Bissel in the Valley, pretending to visitors that they are the Mage of the Valley. I've been using that as the basis for a series of Living Greyhawk adventures I've been penning. |
