#1squidfur-May 07, 2005 18:11:48 | Was just wanting to get some input on what people have named their characters. If you can, can you include the race and sex of each (and homeland wouldn't hurt). Was looking to get some extra names for the Ebon chapters I'm working on, and what better place to get those then from the ds community. |

#4balican_gigoloMay 07, 2005 18:56:38 | I'm playing a game right now with a character from Tyr. Name:Kurin Kosh race:Human homeland:Tyr class:Air cleric info:parents and older brother were captured as slaves when he was young, he had passed out and was left for dead. Years of practice and searching helped him found his brother still a slave in Gulg. Parents had both died some years earlier. He went to gulg and rescued his brother, although he almost died and he did lose his left hand. His brother is now also an air cleric and Kurin fights for freedom. He'll adventure to help free slaves wherever he'll find them. |
#5terminus_vortexaMay 07, 2005 19:57:57 | Terminus Vortexa Thri-Kreen Dragon Erudite/Wizard/Mind Mage/Cerebremancer/Dragon Engineered to slaughter the SKs (Except Oronis) and help restore the planet, he only defiles when necessary and always has his counterpart, ShockWave , an Elf AB Rain Elemental, restore the defiling damage afterwards.Terminus is the only defiler respected by the Spirits of the Land, and druids bear him no emnity because of his restraint and his assisting ShockWave in restoring any damage he has done, and in restoring the lands destroyed by others. |
#6squidfur-May 07, 2005 21:11:45 | Figure I can use any NPC names in the generator as well, so all you DM's... any good names you feel like sharing as well? Trying to get as many names as possible - the name generator will be all the better for it. |

Draxis (human cleric of water), a wanderer from city-state to city-state. Ptellac Terrorclaw (pterran telepath), from Lost Scale - a long way from home. Zaloc (human ranger), from the now-desolate village of Reedscar. Lokar (halfling ranger), one of the last members of his tribe, now travelling the Tablelands. X'eia Sandwalker Silverhand (elf rogue), skinny little reprobate from Silver Spring. Nefen ar Taran'Dai (elf scout), guardian of the Taran'Dai borderlands. Tik-Tik Kyorthok (kreen fighter/monk/psychic warrior), bug-eyed killing machine. Barak (elf bard/poisonmaster), sneaky swine who betrayed entire party to Tithian. Sun Herrix (pterran rogue/fighter), honest trader, no really, he is. Iishtar (half-giant brute), big, unfriendly and dead. Tiny (half-giant, no class levels), big, friendly and dead. #10gilliard_derosanMay 08, 2005 11:24:46 | Two characters I have had in the past. Name: Engus Male Half Giant, Champion of the Raam Arena Gladiator pre 3.0, switched to Fighter when we converted because the original Gladiator conversion just bit. •'kal (the • being pronounced like the "pop" you get when you slide your finger out of your mouth while scraping your cheek - taken from the Thri Kreen of Athas book) Pokal is what his "companions-who-died-everyday-but-lived-again-for-travel" called him Male Thri Kreen Ranger/Cleric (from 2nd AD&D) Hmm, while doing this, remembered another one I have had in the past Male Mul Gladiator named Karos |
#11squidfur-May 08, 2005 23:18:44 | Ooh, good list Kam, and thanks to all the rest.. Keep 'em coming |
#12jon_oracle_of_athasMay 09, 2005 1:17:23 | You can scan through City-State of Draj, Tyrian Conspiracy, Whispers of the Storm, Prestige Class Appendix I and Dregoth Ascending for names if you haven't already done so. |
#13KamelionMay 09, 2005 3:58:22 | I found a few more from my first DS campaign. My players in this group took naming a little less seriously than my current bunch ;) Jade (halfling cleric of water), went missing in Desert of Desolation. Kiryakov Kalashnikov Nightrunner (elf defiler/rogue), concealed his defiler status throughout the campaign. Fountain (half-elf cleric of water/preserver), all-round good-guy. Lanok (human gladiator), lieutenant to Rikus in the Crimson Legion. Udileya (human cleric of water), had big ideas about irrigation. Arasaza Trillik (human gladiator), only DS character ever to be raised from the dead. Shroom (halfling rogue), slain in an embarassing fashion in Desert of Desolation. Stoker (human psion), perished fighting a very large fire elemental. Suuko Sunwing Skysinger (elf fighter/psion), completely blind, kinda like Daredevil. Osric Chiang-Kai (thri-kreen fighter), the meat machine of this campaign. Faro-Ut (elf rogue), a very far-out fellow, he dressed in red and yellow. Xenor (mul gladiator), a bit of a nutter, really. |
#14the_peacebringerMay 09, 2005 7:14:04 | The game I used to DM had these characters: Bakah, male mul gladiator 1/cleric of Earth 1 from Gulg Nok... #15jon_oracle_of_athasMay 09, 2005 15:35:57 | Hey, Kam, you think your players chose unserious names for their characters? The first DS campaign I ran had a Morgoth, a Smaug (who tried to become an avangion...), and a mul gladiator named Slayer. Now there's originality in a nutshell. :P |
#16jon_oracle_of_athasMay 09, 2005 15:37:24 | Astrid, female half-elf ranger 3 from a client village of Gulg Hey, that's my girl friend's name! |
#17crazy_catMay 09, 2005 15:48:29 | Hey, Kam, you think your players chose unserious names for their characters? The first DS campaign I ran had a Morgoth, a Smaug (who tried to become an avangion...), and a mul gladiator named Slayer. Now there's originality in a nutshell. :P Mark allows unserious names? Now you tell me :D Lokar, last of the Uteg Quaree is already established so can I change Nefen Ar Taran'Dai to Slayer? Pretty please ;) |
#18SysaneMay 09, 2005 15:57:48 | I'd have to say the worse names I've had player's name their DS characters would be a half-giant named "Trip" and a kreen name "Ta-Kill". Just awful |
#19KamelionMay 09, 2005 16:42:12 | Mark allows unserious names? Now you tell me :D Just so long as it isn't Tracheotomy Sharpsword Devastator Frizbee The Duck, it's all good with me. Or, now you mention it, Melons Stoatpamphlet. Or Acid Popper Caligula Caesar. Or Mouse The Starr. Or Longnose Troutsniffer. Or Samhain The Surprisingly Berserk Maniac. Or any of the other daftness that seems to plague my games from time to time. Slayer will be just fine... :D |
#20zombiegleemaxMay 09, 2005 16:44:44 | The last campaign I ran, we had the following PC names: Torak - Mul Gladiator Seridon - Half-elf Preserver/Psionicist Zion Tabaros - Human Templar (Kalak... set before events of Freedom) K'Nok - Thri-Kreen Fighter KinIndi - Halfling Rogue Obviously, the templar and preserver led to some interesting roleplaying... |

#27xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 16, 2005 19:09:40 | There's a trick that I've used to come up with interesting and bizarre-sounding names, at least, to help form a basis to make a better name. This idea actually isn't mine, it's one which a good friend of mine (and in my old RP group, was the other regular DM) who is an aspiring novelist uses for names. Basically, you flip through a book, find two words, grab the last syllable or two from one word, and the first syllable or two from the other word, then mash them together. Then, maybe play with the pronunciation and spelling a bit, and presto - a new name is found. |
#28the_slayer_of_heroesMay 17, 2005 8:35:00 | I generally DM dark sun campaigns, but here's the names of the two party memebers that survived through three of my campaigns... Karrakas, Human Female, Psychic Warrior, from Urik Murdock, Human Male, Psion Shaper, from Urik |
