May 07, 2005 18:11:48 Was just wanting to get some input on what people have named their characters.

If you can, can you include the race and sex of each (and homeland wouldn't hurt). Was looking to get some extra names for the Ebon chapters I'm working on, and what better place to get those then from the ds community.

class:Air cleric
info:parents and older brother were captured as slaves when he was young, he had passed out and was left for dead. Years of practice and searching helped him found his brother still a slave in Gulg. Parents had both died some years earlier. He went to gulg and rescued his brother, although he almost died and he did lose his left hand. His brother is now also an air cleric and Kurin fights for freedom. He'll adventure to help free slaves wherever he'll find them.

Engineered to slaughter the SKs (Except Oronis) and help restore the planet, he only defiles when necessary and always has his counterpart, ShockWave , an Elf AB Rain Elemental, restore the defiling damage afterwards.Terminus is the only defiler respected by the Spirits of the Land, and druids bear him no emnity because of his restraint and his assisting ShockWave in restoring any damage he has done, and in restoring the lands destroyed by others.

Trying to get as many names as possible - the name generator will be all the better for it.

- Mutami Fullmoon, Neutral evil fighter/thief elf from Waterfinder elf tribe, now dead.
- Chashkass, True neutral water cleric Thrikreen.
- Korsum Firewall, Chaotic neutral Dwarf fire-cleric from Urik.

Not names I personally came up with, but the two characers my that went through my epic Dark Sun campaign, I like their names.

Gladiator pre 3.0, switched to Fighter when we converted because the original Gladiator conversion just bit.

•'kal (the • being pronounced like the "pop" you get when you slide your finger out of your mouth while scraping your cheek - taken from the Thri Kreen of Athas book)
Pokal is what his "companions-who-died-everyday-but-lived-again-for-travel" called him
Male Thri Kreen Ranger/Cleric (from 2nd AD&D)

Hmm, while doing this, remembered another one I have had in the past

Kiryakov Kalashnikov Nightrunner (elf defiler/rogue), concealed his defiler status throughout the campaign.
Fountain (half-elf cleric of water/preserver), all-round good-guy.
Lanok (human gladiator), lieutenant to Rikus in the Crimson Legion.
Udileya (human cleric of water), had big ideas about irrigation.
Arasaza Trillik (human gladiator), only DS character ever to be raised from the dead.
Shroom (halfling rogue), slain in an embarassing fashion in Desert of Desolation.
Stoker (human psion), perished fighting a very large fire elemental.
Suuko Sunwing Skysinger (elf fighter/psion), completely blind, kinda like Daredevil.
Osric Chiang-Kai (thri-kreen fighter), the meat machine of this campaign.
Faro-Ut (elf rogue), a very far-out fellow, he dressed in red and yellow.
Xenor (mul gladiator), a bit of a nutter, really.

Lokar, last of the Uteg Quaree is already established so can I change Nefen Ar Taran'Dai to Slayer?

Or Acid Popper Caligula Caesar.

Or Mouse The Starr.

Or Longnose Troutsniffer.

Or Samhain The Surprisingly Berserk Maniac.

Or any of the other daftness that seems to plague my games from time to time. Slayer will be just fine... :D

Obviously, the templar and preserver led to some interesting roleplaying...

May 16, 2005 19:09:40 There's a trick that I've used to come up with interesting and bizarre-sounding names, at least, to help form a basis to make a better name. This idea actually isn't mine, it's one which a good friend of mine (and in my old RP group, was the other regular DM) who is an aspiring novelist uses for names. Basically, you flip through a book, find two words, grab the last syllable or two from one word, and the first syllable or two from the other word, then mash them together. Then, maybe play with the pronunciation and spelling a bit, and presto - a new name is found.

#27 xlorepdarkhelm_dup May 16, 2005 19:09:40	There's a trick that I've used to come up with interesting and bizarre-sounding names, at least, to help form a basis to make a better name. This idea actually isn't mine, it's one which a good friend of mine (and in my old RP group, was the other regular DM) who is an aspiring novelist uses for names. Basically, you flip through a book, find two words, grab the last syllable or two from one word, and the first syllable or two from the other word, then mash them together. Then, maybe play with the pronunciation and spelling a bit, and presto - a new name is found.
