#3squidfur-May 15, 2005 0:12:11 | oh, and a handful of ral partha miniatures, two video games (wake of the ravager is the 2nd, iirc, can't remember the name of the other), and a few spellfire trading cards - for all you completionists plus wasn't there a comic book released at one point? |
#4zombiegleemaxMay 15, 2005 0:57:45 | ahh i just found a link to hopefully all the DS Book material http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?cPath=1_294_306& |
#5xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 15, 2005 1:11:16 | ahh i just found a link to hopefully all the DS Book material http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?cPath=1_294_306& That is, the material that rpgnow lists. Athas.org, the official website that was quoted above, has the list of virtually everything that made a reference or some rules or story for Dark Sun, including things you won't find in PDFs, like the novels. Those things, you'll need to probably go hunt on eBay or some other similar site for. |
#6zombiegleemaxMay 15, 2005 1:36:32 | yeah i just relised... :P, i have 1 book...The Prism Pentad 5: The Cerulean Storm... but i dont want to even start it unless i have the previous books of the series... is "Dregoth Ascending Part 1: The Day of Light (version 1.0, released 2004 December 20)" an official release? it's in the "Official Releases" part of http://athas.org/ (http://athas.org/releases/) also "Terrors of Athas (version 0.9, Released 2004 February 27)" & "Wizard's Spell Compendium (version 1.0)" also are in the http://athas.org/releases/ section also i have "Dragon Kings by Timothy B. Brown (1992)" is that an official release... sorry new to this dark sun stuff... all i am looking for now is: Dark Sun Expanded and Revised Campaign Setting |
#7xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 15, 2005 1:59:17 | Yes, it's an official release. Athas.org is authorized by Wizards of the Coast to make official releases for Dark Sun, specifically rules conversions of the old system to bring Dark Sun up to 3.5e, and then also to include new material. Along with this, is that they can release the two books that were incomplete - Shadows of the Dead Lands, and Dregoth Ascending. They recieved what was done for those two books from WotC, and have been working on converting both of them into 3.5e D&D, relying on the conversion that Athas.org has done for the rest. Before you ask (or rather, if you were wondering) - yes, there is another equally-official rule conversion that was done, and found in some Dragon and Dungeon magazines. There was no consulting or cooperation with the existing Athas.org rules, and as such, there is some siginificant variations between the two systems. Some people like the version from the magazines, others like Athas.org. And then most usually grab elements they like from both, if they can get access to the magazine articles, that is. Personally, I mostly use rules from Athas.org, have taken a couple ideas (but none of the rules) from the Magazines, along with a few other sources, including some of my own ideas on things, hashed it together, and use that for my own Dark Sun campaigns. |
#8zombiegleemaxMay 15, 2005 2:09:50 | ok thanks for the info |
#9squidfur-May 15, 2005 2:31:57 | correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Secrets of the Deadlands. :D |
#10jon_oracle_of_athasMay 15, 2005 6:27:32 | Secrets of the Deadlands is correct. |
#11xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 15, 2005 9:16:18 | correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Secrets of the Deadlands. They've released Terrors of the Deadlands - which is a compendium of monsters from it. But the actual book is called Secrets of the Dead Lands. Besides, the Blue Oracle has agreed with me (is this one of the signs of the apocalypse? next people are gonna say that Dregoth has made his grab for becoming a god!) |
#12eric_anondsonMay 15, 2005 10:22:36 | They've released Terrors of the Deadlands - which is a compendium of monsters from it. And a ton of additional monsters. There were a bunch of new monsters in it, and they all needed to be updated to 3e rules, and the opportunity was taken to also update all of the undead of Athas at the same time. Being the Deadlands and all, it seemed important to have all the monsters that would be commonly encountered there (armies of Athasian undead) available for DM reference. Terrors also talks about The Gray in 3e terms, which was another addition. Being so important to many undead it was decided that it needed to be touched upon. Oh yeah, Secrets of the Deadlands introduced a new "force", the S'thag Zagath who ruled south of the Deadlands, from which an undead version would rise, the Scarlet Warden, that commanded armies of undead vermin and other insects. So adding and updating all of the Athasian vermin and insects to 3e seemed especially important. |
#13jon_oracle_of_athasMay 15, 2005 10:37:53 | Between the two Terrors releases, we have about 300 pages of DS monster material. |
#14xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 15, 2005 15:34:55 | Add in the list of monsters from other D&D products useable in Dark Sun, and there's just a plethora of monsters for Dark Sun. Definitely like the Monster Bureau's work. |
#15zombiegleemaxMay 16, 2005 2:45:45 | ok thanks guys for the info... if anybody could lend me a hand by sending me the PDF files of the following items, i would be greatful: Dark Sun Expanded and Revised Campaign Setting |

#23xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 16, 2005 19:03:51 | Polite for a pirate isn't he? I honestly was holding out hope for this guy, until he blatantly stated his intentions as a pirate. And on the WotC forums too, that's what slays me. |
#24zombiegleemaxMay 17, 2005 0:45:38 | i'm only 14... i've been brought up on pirating ... |
#25xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 17, 2005 1:22:33 | We're not out to get you, just letting you know that your line of inquiry is best not put on these forums, for your own protection more than anything. |
#26jon_oracle_of_athasMay 17, 2005 4:15:28 | We're not out to get you, just letting you know that your line of inquiry is best not put on these forums, for your own protection more than anything. What? You're saying I shouldn't fire a lightning bolt at him? I haven't throw a good bolt in ages! |
#27the_slayer_of_heroesMay 17, 2005 8:25:21 | actually, awhile ago, there was a list of old-edeition products that wizards said were free to be put up on the internet or whatever. was browsing the site awhile a go, but can't find it anymore. I know for sure that "will and the way" was on it, but i don't know about any of the other Dark Sun material, though... |
#28xlorepdarkhelm_dupMay 17, 2005 11:44:45 | They took that down and retracted that idea, preferring to sell the items. |
#29zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2005 17:44:38 | They took that down and retracted that idea, preferring to sell the items. bastards ;) |
#30darzanJun 09, 2005 18:43:05 | i'm only 14... i've been brought up on pirating ... lmao. I love that line. :D If you look hard enough, you'll find whatever you need. ;) |
#31ruhl-than_sageJun 09, 2005 19:39:14 | bastards ;) *Blink Blink* you ressurected a three week old thread to write the word bastards? |
#32Slad_ChaosJun 11, 2005 17:01:14 | Terrors Of Athans Is it official material of the 2dn edition ? |
#33eric_anondsonJun 11, 2005 17:06:36 | That list is material put out by the official fansite, The Burnt World of Athas. WotC granted the official fansite permission to create new material that would be jointly owned by WotC and the fansite, had to be free, did not reprint any old material, and was 3.x compatible. |
#34zombiegleemaxJun 11, 2005 20:33:07 | *Blink Blink* you ressurected a three week old thread to write the word bastards? Sorry 'bout that I suppose... (I just went trough the first 5 pages on the boards and commented. Didn't bother to check the date ;) ) |
