Terrors of Athas questions

May 16, 2005 5:46:07 Wondering what the origin of the following monsters are. Where the original source material came from, stuff like that. Or if any of them are original creations of the athas.org team.

Magera
Mindhome Folk

And while i'm at it, why aren't dune freaks referred to as anakores anymore?

May 16, 2005 7:18:39 The Mindhome Folk and Magera came from the Shattered Lands PC game, along with the Dagolar and Tyrian Slimes, Fire Eel, Mountain Stalker, Screamer Beetle, Strine and Styr, iirc.

The dune freaks are referred to as anakore in their write-up. We went with dune freak as their more common name, though (ie. what most Athasians would know them as) and used that for their name in ToA.

May 16, 2005 10:52:21 Ok, well do you think they are new races, forgotten rebirth races, or twisted descendents of rebirth races? Magera seem a lot like ogres to me. And mindhome folk seem kinda like pixies or something.

May 16, 2005 10:55:27 Magera are in fact Tarek. They just messed up the name like other thing in that computer game. There a lot of inconsistencies in Shattered land and Wake of the Ravager.
