OK, I know this has been discussed many times before, but I missed out on most of those discussions; IS THE SHACKLED CITY ADVENTURE PATH, DEFINITIVELY GREYHAWK?

Let me explain a bit more.

I know with the release of the Shackled City "mega-adventure" from Paizo that certain things were added to the new book.

I know that with the 4-part Greyhawk map set released, that the cities that pertain to the mega-adventure are now part of Greyhawk.

I have never really given too much thought or time to the adventure path. While I have read bits and pieces from the various issues of Dungeon magazine, none of Shackled City seemed very "Greyhawkish" (at least at the time).

With the release of the new book, I'm tempted to get it mearly because I know is has some relavence to GH... Will the word "Greyhawk" even appear in the new Paizo book? Is the expanded material more "in-depth" when it comes to GH in particular??

I'm not talking about my version of Greyhawk canon, or his version of GH canon, but nuts and bolts of the matter, is the Shackled City adventure Greyhawk?

It's hinted at being Greyhawk as is the new adventure path.

I'm presuming Dungeon had to get permission from WotC at some level to put Cauldron and Sasserine on the map. At least that makes sense to one such as me. I don't know that for certain, but maybe Erik will pop in and give us a what's what.

I will agree with you that the Shackled City campaign doesn't have much of a Greyhawk "feel." When my group ran it, we actually set it in a world all on its own and just built around it as the modules kept coming out. We used the Asgardian pantheon from DaDg instead of the "generic" pantheon presented in the PH (I don't really feel the PH representations are canon references to the GH deities). St. Cuthbert became Tyr, Pelor became Balder, Kord became Thor, Vecna became Loki, etc. We made a few other modifications to make the world a winter setting, like using some variant arctic races from Unearthed Arcana and changed a few features of the surrounding terrain. The biggest challenge was adapting the cosmology since the Asgardian cosmology is markedly similar and lots of the later adventures take place in various other planes. My whole point is that the Shackled City campaign can fit just about any world pretty easily with little adaptation. It is devoid of a lot of features that are really specific to any one campaign setting. However all of the characters are well-developed, making it an excellent campaign to use in any world.

If I were to run a CY 595 GH campaign nowadays, I'd presume the events in Cauldron happened as they did. I see no harm in it and it does add a bit of character to a world which has not seen much official support in a while. I do the same with all Dungeon modules set in Greyhawk, and on a case-by-case basis for those set in the "default setting." (Yes, there is a difference. Modules in Dungeon state which campaign world they are designed for. Some state they are designed for Greyhawk, while others say they are for "any campaign setting" but they still use the PH deities. Might I also point out the books by "T.H. Lain" depicting events that clearly used the PH deities but hosted a variety of other features that were quite alien to Greyhawk.)

Aside from the core gods, there's really no mention of Greyhawk in the Shackled City book* or in the individual modules. I put the cities on the Greyhawk map to help people who want to "convert" the modules to Greyhawk (something that is easily done), but we don't get too obsessive compulsive about it in the hardcover.

The Age of Worms Adventure Path, which starts in the current issue of Dungeon, on the other hand, is a different kettle of fish. Although it is not _explicitly_ set in Greyhawk, I think you'll find that it fits very, very well within the setting.

*I haven't edited the expanded introduction, yet, and I suppose there's a chance James Jacobs slipped some sort of "if you're playing the AP in Greyhawk" language, but I don't expect that he did so.

...And Mr. Mona, you have no idea how happy that makes me an a few other GH players in my group. In about 3 months or so, we set sail towards the Age of Worms! Congrats on an outstanding opening to the new AP!
