#1zombiegleemaxJun 20, 2005 18:39:30 | Hello 'Hawkers, My Dungeon magazine subscription ran out at issue #100 a few years ago. Are there any issues that are very Greyhawk-oriented that I need to get my hands on? I'm trying to collect up all the decent resources I can. Really, I'm trying to gather up everything Greyhawk I can from 3.0/3.5 to present. I have the Dungeons and Dragons Gazetteer and Living GreyHawk Gazetteer. It's been a while since I've run it -- since mid-80's First Edition, but I'm falling in love with the setting all over again. Anyway, any advice is appreciated. Thanks. --Ghul |
#2GreysonJun 20, 2005 21:06:06 | Ghul, Dungeon has a lot of items that can be ported to Greyhawk. But, if you are looking for copy specifically written for Greyhawk, I hope the following helps. #103 - Glacial Inferno Volcanic Cavern in the Abbor Alz, near the Urnst border. 7th-level characters #105 - Racing the Snake Town of Polvar in Ket and the Southern Yatils 6th-level characters #105 - Critical Threat: Warduke #106 - Tammeraut's Fate Firewatch Island, Southern Nyrond Coast of the Relmor Bay 6th-level characters #107 - Critical Threat: Evard #111 - Strike on the Rabid Dawn City of Hardby and aboard a ship. 15th-level 15 characters #112 - Maure Castle Abbor Alz at the Western Edge of Urnst 12th-level characters #113 - Living Greyhawk: The Knights of Holy Shielding Prestige Class, with history and game mechanics. #114 - Mad God's Key The City of Greyhawk and the Cairn Hills. 1st-level characters #114 - Torrents of Dread The Isle of Dread, set in the Densac Gulf. 6th-level characters #115 - Raiders of the Black Ice North-Eastern Edge of Blackmoor, bordering the The Land of Black Ice. 3rd-level characters #117 - Touch of the Abyss City of Istvin in Sterich. 11th-level characters #118 - Shadow of the Abyss In and around Istivin and the Joten Mountains. 11th-level characters #118 - Throne of Iuz The Defiled Glades on the Vesve Forest. 15th-level characters #118 - World of Greyhawk Map, Part I #119 - Wrath of the Abyss Underoerth and in Istivin. 12th-level characters #119 - World of Greyhawk Map, Part II #120 - Lost Temple of Demogorgon The Iron Hills. 14th-level characters #120 - World of Greyhawk Map, Part III #121 - Fiend's Embrace The Cold Marshes. 4th-level characters #121 - World of Greyhawk Map, Part IV #124 - Age of Worms Adventure Path: The Whispering Cairn Diamond Lake and the Cairn Hills. 1st-level characters As you can see, there is a lot of Greyhawk content. The map alone is worth the price of a subscription - as is the the twelve part Age of Worms Adventure Path. I hope this helps. Happy gaming. |
#3AmarilJun 20, 2005 21:11:30 | The World of Greyhawk Massive Four-Part Poster Map can still be be purchased as can most of the other back issues. |
#4zombiegleemaxJun 20, 2005 23:09:32 | Heh, you've missed a lot. Erik "Greyhawk" Mona took over Dungeon shortly after #100 and has made some great strides in bringing Dungeon more GH material. You should also check out Dragon as recently there have been some really good GH articles, such as Iggwilv's Demonomicon. |
#5zombiegleemaxJun 21, 2005 7:51:26 | [shameless plug] And of course, Beasts of the Scarlet Brotherhood in Dungeon 106 and Hardby - City of the Scorned in Dungeon 109... [/shameless plug]. ;) Thanks to the power of the Fabulous Electric Internet, there's what looks like a pretty thorough listing of all the Greyhawk stuff in Dragon and Dungeon at: http://www.pen-paper.net/ Follow the link to the RPG database and look for greyhawk and magazine articles. #7zombiegleemaxJun 22, 2005 17:51:23 | Greyhawk comrades, Thank-you for this wealth of information -- particularly Greyson for taking the time out of your day to put together this great list of resources. Now I have to go Dungeon hunting, because my campaign (a home brew that mixes D20 Modern with a sort Narnia fantasy setting in which the characters jump to and fro these worlds upon death; yeah, it's complicated ) is coming to it end. After years of home-brew, I look forward to delving back into an established setting like Greyhawk. I actually like the limited amount of "generic" materials, because I'm quite accustomed to my home-brew style (and so are my players); to simply jump into a very complex setting (Dragonlance, Ebberon, Realms) that is deep in history would be too much to swallow for me and my players. Greyhawk is as extensive in its history and politics as the DM wishes it to be. It seems the most malleable of the settings, customizable -- the DM's clay, if you would. And then there is that bit of nostalgia I feel when I open up my old Gygax boxed set from 1st edition. Anyway, thanks, folks. I look forward to being a regular contributor to this list. Peace. --Ghul |
#8zombiegleemaxJun 22, 2005 20:59:46 | There is an Excel file that is a searchable database of all 3.x adventures in Dungeon. It includes the setting it was written for, level and some descriptive notes. You can find it here: www.3d6.org It is an excellent resource! I hope it helps! DM |
#9grodogJun 22, 2005 22:10:27 | I've also got a very-recently-updated-but-still-not-quite-current Dungeons and non-Dungeons Adventures in Greyhawk index, available on my site at http://www.greyhawkonline.com/grodog/gh_dungeon_adventures.html |
