#1DragonhelmJun 29, 2005 16:47:38 | Jamie just passed along a note to me that Spectre of Sorrows is going to be premiering at Origins! Spectre will be on store shelves soon. Keep watching for further details. If anyone grabs a copy at Origins, be sure to let the rest of us know how you like it. |
#2cam_banksJun 29, 2005 19:11:00 | Yes! Come to Origins, get your copy of Spectre of Sorrows signed by me, play some Dragonlance games, go home and save Krynn a whole bunch! Cheers, Cam |
#3zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2005 9:12:45 | Jamie just passed along a note to me that Spectre of Sorrows is going to be premiering at Origins! What year? ;) |
#4zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2005 9:49:10 | Hooray! What about the Holy Order of the Stars? Those who are unable to go to Origins have to wait for about how long? |
#5zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2005 10:41:58 | The product premiere is good, but it actually being on the store shelves is better. ~~~ |
#6zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2005 11:55:16 | I dont think that the Exodus or the Flood took this long! J/K |
#7frostdawnJun 30, 2005 11:59:18 | The product premiere is good, but it actually being on the store shelves is better. Agreed |
#8kalanthJun 30, 2005 13:14:48 | One day I dream that I will log onto Amazon and see shipped next to SoS and OoS. One day. . . Wish I could buy them at the FLGS, but all the ones near me wont sell DL because its not as popular as Eberron. . . Fools, are they blind, do they not see Krynn as the greatest world ever?! |
#9zombiegleemaxJun 30, 2005 14:02:13 | Maybe we need Snow White to sing "Some day" |
#10theredrobedwizardJul 08, 2005 15:18:48 | I guess my initial reaction to this news is "Gwah?! Jamie told me last year at GenCon that Sovereign Press wasn't going to be at Origins this year." The secondary reaction would, of course, be: "Yay, I finally get to run Spectre of Sorrows. Mayhaps I'll pick it up at GenCon this year." -TRRW |
#11zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2005 12:10:45 | For those who have it, is it worth the wait? |
#12DragonhelmJul 13, 2005 12:57:32 | For those who have it, is it worth the wait? Very much so. There are events in Spectre that will have a dramatic impact on Dragonlance. And that's about all I can say on the subject. |
#13cam_banksJul 13, 2005 13:17:59 | Very much so. There are events in Spectre that will have a dramatic impact on Dragonlance. Yes. Consider this an open request on my part for folks who acquire a copy of Spectre not to blow any surprises. There are a number of twists and unannounced NPCs and locations that show up in the book which we deliberately didn't advertise, for instance. Of course, if you do get the book and want to scream at me for those, you can PM me or something. Cheers, Cam |
#14zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2005 16:23:49 | It is supposed to be out on the 22 or by the 22nd |
#15cam_banksJul 13, 2005 18:21:36 | It is supposed to be out on the 22 or by the 22nd Distribution will have it on the 22nd which means it may take a few days to get into the stores in some cases. Cheers, Cam |
#16zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2005 11:33:51 | which means by August? 2 months late. |
#17zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2005 11:33:59 | which means by August? 2 months late. |
#18clarkvalentineJul 14, 2005 12:02:24 | which means by August? He means that distribution will have it on the 22nd which means it may take a few days to get into the stores in some cases, which is, oddly, exactly what he said. |
#19cam_banksJul 14, 2005 12:27:16 | which means by August? 2 months late. Augh! Cheers, Cam |
#20zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2005 13:13:30 | We finally have a date to look forward to! |
#21zombiegleemaxJul 18, 2005 15:28:22 | I dont think that the Exodus or the Flood took this long! J/K No you weren't; let it stand it was hilarious! ~~~ |
#22silvanthalasJul 18, 2005 19:16:45 | I got my copy at Comic-Con over the weekend. It looks great, Cam! |
#23zombiegleemaxJul 18, 2005 19:37:49 | Why is it that everytime someone announces that a new supplement is being released, everyone has to take a big swig on the Deadline flavored Haterade? As has been stated many times before on these boards: a) this really isn't the place to be complaining about these types of things. I'm referring to the last time something like this happened and a Wiz_O had to close down the thread. b) there are a lot of factors that go into publishing a book, delays occur, and are often beyond the author's control. I'm not advocating that we all just blindly accept everything anyone tells us without question, I'm just asking that we all be a little bit more understanding about things like this. If you have a problem, why not write a letter expressing your feelings? How about a private e-mail? How about not clogging the boards with an arrogant, egotistical, attitude? How many months has the preview chapter been up? The adventure has clearly been written for quite some time. Something must have come up. |
#24zombiegleemaxJul 19, 2005 12:06:34 | [ How about not clogging the boards with an arrogant, egotistical, attitude? How many months has the preview chapter been up? The adventure has clearly been written for quite some time. Something must have come up. What about non-patronizing attitudes that allow freedom of expression and disappointment. A chapter in a module after how long cannot a campaign make. |
#25cam_banksJul 19, 2005 12:40:22 | What about non-patronizing attitudes that allow freedom of expression and disappointment. You get that after the first couple of times you go on about it. When it's all you ever say, and you join in a thread solely to say it, and you continue to sign up time after time on message boards with a different name just to keep doing that, the sympathy runs out real quick. Cheers, Cam |
#26kipper_snifferdoo_02Jul 19, 2005 13:12:21 | I got my copy at Comic-Con over the weekend. It looks great, Cam! *grabs his bell and starts to ring it.* I hope that includes the maps as well. :D |
#27clarkvalentineJul 19, 2005 13:31:56 | *grabs his bell and starts to ring it.* I hope that includes the maps as well. :D They look great! I know there was initially some concern that they wouldn't translate well to B&W, but you must be very happy with the results. |
#28zombiegleemaxJul 19, 2005 14:05:06 | You get that after the first couple of times you go on about it. When it's all you ever say, and you join in a thread solely to say it, and you continue to sign up time after time on message boards with a different name just to keep doing that, the sympathy runs out real quick. It is not all I ever say about things Cam Banks and it is not the reason that I join the boards, not that you are anybody I have to justify my actions to, but I prefer to live with reality as it is not as a fan base makes me feel. |
#29kipper_snifferdoo_02Jul 20, 2005 7:10:39 | They look great! I know there was initially some concern that they wouldn't translate well to B&W, but you must be very happy with the results. Thanks very much Clark! Actually I haven't seen the finished product yet. I doubt I will until GenCon. 4 weeks to go, 4 weeks to go. I'm looking forward to getting my grubby little hands on it, well that and seeing everyone again and running the new Demo adventure. ;) Should be fun. :D |
#30zombiegleemaxJul 21, 2005 12:58:41 | Here we go again. ~~~ |
#31kipper_snifferdoo_02Jul 21, 2005 13:02:43 | Here we go again. What is that in response to? |
#32zombiegleemaxJul 21, 2005 14:13:20 | Yes, what are talking about LOI? |
#33DragonhelmJul 21, 2005 14:35:27 | Yes, what are talking about LOI? I believe that the discussion is about Spectre of Sorrows. |
#34brimstoneJul 21, 2005 15:37:36 | Here we go again. Dude...don't roll your eyes. You're the one who started it...again! You don't have a right to be pissy about it. EDIT: Okay...nevermind, you didn't start it this time, but you added to it. So my point is still valid, I think. |
#35DragonhelmJul 21, 2005 15:44:21 | Dude...don't roll your eyes. You're the one who started it...again! You don't have a right to be pissy about it. So, to avoid another flame war... Spectre of Sorrows! Anyone have it yet? If so, what did you think of Sean's maps? :D |
#36brimstoneJul 21, 2005 15:53:20 | Anyone have it yet? If so, what did you think of Sean's maps? :D Gorgeous, as always. So...what are the chances of us getting these maps in color on www.dragonlance.com as web enhancements, do you think? That'd be really slick. |
#37zombiegleemaxJul 21, 2005 18:30:56 | I believe that the discussion is about Spectre of Sorrows. Okay Master of the Obvious? |
#38silvanthalasJul 21, 2005 22:03:46 | If so, what did you think of Sean's maps? :D Sean's maps... man, these maps SUCK! What was he thinking!? Just kidding. ;) I'd definately love to have color versions of all of them (in another map product would be great), but black & white will suffice for now. |
#39cam_banksJul 21, 2005 22:41:24 | Here we go again. No, there you go again. Buh-bye. Cheers, Cam |
#40cam_banksJul 21, 2005 22:42:30 | I'd definately love to have color versions of all of them (in another map product would be great), but black & white will suffice for now. I was actually worried about the transition to B&W, also, but it ended up being a really nice printing job. The sign of a great cartographer! Cheers, Cam |
#41brimstoneJul 22, 2005 10:07:06 | Okay Master of the Obvious? Hey now...that's uncalled for. All Trampas has ever done is try to get people to play nice and get along, there's no need to loose your venom on him. I was actually worried about the transition to B&W, also, but it ended up being a really nice printing job. The sign of a great cartographer! That's really good news! However...I'd still love to have those maps in color. :D |
#42kipper_snifferdoo_02Jul 22, 2005 13:04:47 | The color maps kick butt! I have them all printed out and put in my Map Portfolio (Pouch) which I'll bring to GenCon. As far as obtaining the color versions I don't know how people would go about doing that. But here are a few thumbnails... Well actually, Nevermind, sorry. These will be spoilers. :D |
#43brimstoneJul 22, 2005 14:08:15 | Well actually, Nevermind, sorry. These will be spoilers. :D LOL! That's so cruel... |
#44DragonhelmJul 22, 2005 14:32:32 | LOL! That's so cruel... He's a kender. He's taunting you. ;) |
#45zombiegleemaxJul 25, 2005 11:03:41 | Hey now...that's uncalled for. All Trampas has ever done is try to get people to play nice and get along, there's no need to loose your venom on him. :D My venom? It looks like be butted his nose in a sarcastic manner before hand. Rose colored glasses are so wonderful, I wish I could afford a pair. |
#46wizo_sithJul 25, 2005 14:51:21 | Let's everybody please try and remember the "Be Nice" admonitions in the Wizards Online Code of Conduct, ok? Thanks. |
#47brimstoneJul 25, 2005 16:17:22 | My venom? It looks like be butted his nose in a sarcastic manner before hand. LOL! Me too. No, Trampas was not trying to be sarcastic there. He was trying to be PC and get the thread back on topic, which is what he always does. When you jump on his case, it like you just hit the guy trying to break up the fight. |
#48kalanthJul 25, 2005 16:45:37 | So, now that the book has premiered, when am I going to see it appear in my mail box (ordered from Amazon because the FLGS does not carry anything DL)? |
#49zombiegleemaxJul 25, 2005 17:46:08 | LOL! Me too. The response came across as sarcastic and smart aleky. |
#50DragonhelmJul 25, 2005 17:56:26 | The response came across as sarcastic and smart aleky. I'm sorry you feel that way, but honestly, that was my subtle nudge to keep this discussion on topic and not incur the wrath of WizO Sith (Revenge thereof!). These boards have had way too many flame wars regarding the Age of Mortals series of modules and, more specifically, Sovereign Press' release schedule. I was just trying to avoid another one. Speaking of which, I think WizO Sith has made his position clear, so rather than get into another round of "fun", let's get back to topic please. |
#51kalanthJul 26, 2005 0:19:23 | I must ask my question once more, when might we see this book arrive on our doorsteps for those of us that anxiously pre-ordered the book? |
#52clarkvalentineJul 26, 2005 8:19:24 | I must ask my question once more, when might we see this book arrive on our doorsteps for those of us that anxiously pre-ordered the book? I'd email Renae Chambers at Sovereign Press (sales@sovpress.com) - she's the one who has that sort fo detail. |
#53zombiegleemaxJul 26, 2005 10:31:17 | So, now that the book has premiered, when am I going to see it appear in my mail box (ordered from Amazon because the FLGS does not carry anything DL)? Amazon give a date of August 30th. |
#54zombiegleemaxJul 26, 2005 12:16:07 | When should hobby stores have it? |
#55zombiegleemaxJul 26, 2005 17:11:56 | When should hobby stores have it? I would think the middle of next week- if we are lucky |
#56zombiegleemaxJul 27, 2005 11:15:16 | What about Holy Orders of the Stars? |
#57frostdawnJul 27, 2005 13:48:07 | What about Holy Orders of the Stars? I don't think anyone knows the answer to that one yet, but I think there is some speculation that it won't be out till sometime in september... |
#58zombiegleemaxJul 27, 2005 14:15:27 | I am not sure of this but why would the delay of the release of one product affect another? |
#59clarkvalentineJul 27, 2005 15:46:45 | I am not sure of this but why would the delay of the release of one product affect another? Because there's limited staff, oftentimes people working on one are also working on the other. |
#60zombiegleemaxJul 27, 2005 15:53:47 | What about Holy Orders of the Stars? The date quoted on the www.dragonlance.com website is August: Cam Banks has claimed that it will be available at GenCon in mid-August, and in stores two weeks later; but he has also said that this is not official. |
#61cam_banksJul 27, 2005 16:02:05 | The date quoted on the www.dragonlance.com website is August: Cam Banks has claimed that it will be available at GenCon in mid-August, and in stores two weeks later; but he has also said that this is not official. Correct. That still stands. It's still slated to come out at GenCon and that's still an unofficial answer. I'll be over here working on upcoming product. Cheers, Cam |
#62zombiegleemaxJul 27, 2005 16:21:23 | I must ask my question once more, when might we see this book arrive on our doorsteps for those of us that anxiously pre-ordered the book? Pre-orders from Sovereign Press were dispatched almost three weeks ago (I have already got mine). |
#63true_blueJul 28, 2005 17:09:12 | Seriously, if anyone is really worried about this set of items being late, the best option is to just buy the adventures when they actually come out, and don't run them. Wait for all three to actually come out, and then play them all the way through. Delays are pretty much assured here, you either become used to it and accept the products for what they are, or get annoyed and don't purchase them. Most of the time I'm a big advocate for people speaking up so they can get changed enacted, but in this case SP obvisouly is well aware of the problem, and doesnt really seem to be able to do much about it. constraints on them in some shape or form prevent them, so *shrug*. My advice to anyone is add 2-3 months onto any release date. And kind of shoot for that date to see a product. Luckily the few products that have come out have been the essential ones I wanted for my campaign, so I can wait a long time for any others. Also WoTC makes a lot of products that are easily fit into Dragonlance, so I use most of those. Some really good products... and some not so good.. but hey its cool. I dunno... again I'm usually all for a person trying to get a change, but in this case I think its a moot point to keep arguing about it. If anyone new comes along and asks why a product isnt out, that is a time to say "SP tends to be behind schedule". But if its pretty much someone who's around here much, there really isnt a need to constantly point out all the products are late. I've looked over Key of Destiny and it looks great, but I'm going with the route I spoke above about. I'll collest all three and eventually run them in a long campaign, where I have everything set out and can plan accordingly. I can always say that the products are really good in my opinion, if that counts for something, and to me.. it does. |
#64zombiegleemaxAug 02, 2005 13:30:48 | No, there you go again. Buh-bye. But where did the Specter of Sorrows adventure module go ? ~~~ |
#65DragonhelmAug 02, 2005 13:59:31 | But where did the Specter of Sorrows adventure module go ? To a local gaming shop near you! ;) |
#66daedavias_dupAug 02, 2005 14:14:06 | To a local gaming shop near you! ;) Speaking of which, one of the FLGS I frequent just special ordered a copy for me. They use Alliance, so if anyone here knows their store uses Alliance, have them call them up and send a copy your way, it's as simple as that. I can't wait, the woman at the store said the book would be here by the weekend! |
#67SysaneAug 02, 2005 14:28:00 | To a local gaming shop near you! ;) Has anyone actually picked this up at a retail store yet? I've been waiting for this at my local gaming store/part time job for over a week now. |
#68kalanthAug 02, 2005 16:24:12 | Seriously, if anyone is really worried about this set of items being late, the best option is to just buy the adventures when they actually come out, and don't run them. Wait for all three to actually come out, and then play them all the way through. I tried to wait but just could not do it. The game was screaming to be played! Besides, I have been waiting a year (roughly) just to have the modules, and I am still waiting for the second book. I don't see the third one by the time I am done with SoS then I am just faking the ending. ;) |
#69zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2005 10:30:54 | Has anyone got it from a hobby store yet> |
#70SysaneAug 03, 2005 10:39:35 | Beats me. One minute its out at Origins next its not out till Gen Con. Who knows at this point. I'm so confused |
#71daedavias_dupAug 03, 2005 11:12:05 | Has anyone got it from a hobby store yet> I will be on Friday. The owner ordered one for me. |
#72cam_banksAug 03, 2005 11:25:02 | Beats me. One minute its out at Origins next its not out till Gen Con. Who knows at this point. I'm so confused Advanced copies were out at Origins and ComicCon. The main print run came in soon after that and went to distributors. All of the major RPG online vendors have it in stock, and gaming stores should also have it. One of the issues may have been that the store didn't preorder it, or the distributor ran out of stock, or some other kind of thing. Sovereign Press isn't WOTC or White Wolf, so their stuff isn't always on sale at the store on the day of its release. Cheers, Cam |
#73zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2005 12:10:50 | Will the Holy Order of the Stars be out by Christmas? What about the Dragonlance giftset? Will there be a publishing delay on the gift set? |
#74frostdawnAug 03, 2005 12:47:15 | I just heard from my local shop that they were able to procure a copy of SoS for me, and have it on hold for me to pick up later today. So that's one instance of the book hitting stores... |

So that's one instance of the book hitting stores... You lucky little punk, I have to wait until the end of the week for my game store to get my copy in! :P [EDIT] Welcome to my ignore list, Treymordin. |
#76zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2005 12:55:44 | [EDIT] Welcome to my ignore list, Treymordin. Oh, you really hurt my feelings Daedavias. I really dont care if you ignore me or read what I have to say. |
#77cam_banksAug 03, 2005 13:05:32 | I just heard from my local shop that they were able to procure a copy of SoS for me, and have it on hold for me to pick up later today. So that's one instance of the book hitting stores... Excellent. Don't forget - no spoilers! There are a couple of things in the book which so far have remained completely unmentioned in advertising and previews, especially regarding the contents of Chapter 6, so keep it under your hat... Cheers, Cam |
#78zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2005 13:19:51 | I can hardly wait to get my hands on this LONG awaited project! |
#79zombiegleemaxAug 03, 2005 14:00:52 | I am a little confused here, the DL store says that the module is still on pre-order? |
#80NivedAug 03, 2005 21:32:33 | I have SoS, I bought it retail. It is truely magnificent... though getting it was an event unto itself. It was a many splendored adventure that took me far from my home in Illinois to the strange far away land of Wisconsin, a mythical land... where D&D was born, a strange land full of cheese, beer, and fireworks... and stores with no other name than "Beer, Cheese, and Fireworks." I did not head into this mythical land blind... no I had employed methods arcane to consult a great sage, so that I might scry the location of the Spectre of Sorrows, whose exitance is but a whisper in the halls of the powerful. My quest was fraught with peril for I wore the symbol of my homeland, the red 'C' stamped proudly upon a sea of blue upon my cap. Truely dangerous when traveling to the land of the cheeseheads. When I reached the crossroads where the text was rumored to be I felt my pusle quicken, I knew where to look, it had been fortold to me. The sights I witnessed were truely bizzare, I would not fault you friends if you did not believe what I am about to tell you... for beasts fantastic were my signpost. The elephant and the giraffe stood tall and true in the square and a lion, yes friends a lion. These dangers were fortold and I knew I was in the right place. I walked into the peddler's shoppe where the sage had guided me, and lo there it was, the rumor made real, the Spectre of Sorrows! I reached out to pick it up, to grasp my destiny! It was heavier than I expected, indeed I thought I picked up two... but no, the fabled book not only existed... it was huge. Now dispite the peddler's slight confusion as to it's fair market price I recieved it at the correct cost, and like a thief in the night I sped off to toil over the tome and learn what secrets it held. The above story is actually true... the sage was Jamie Chambers... who took the time from his busy schedule to help me locate SoS... which wasn't really that far of a drive for me, for all my bluster I live 15 minutes from Wisconsin, and maybe another 20-30 to the store that had SoS... now the animals... that is absolutely true... no foolin, scouts honor... right across from the store. Really. Anyway SoS is a fantastic module. I bought it last Friday and my friends were so exited that I got it (they really loved KoD) they demanded I run it... I ran two sessions last weekend and we're well into SoS now and well on our way... While I was able to read all I needed to run the session as far as I did I haven't been able to finish reading the whole thing till today... and wow. I'm utterly amazed Cam. Master Yap, Picket, the theatre manager, the mystery guest of chapter 6... wow. I am utterly blown away. |

Master Yap, by the way, first appeared in my own Dragonlance campaign, which is where a lot of the things in Spectre of Sorrows first appeared or were playtested. Think of him as having a voice like a cross between Yoda and a daschund. Cheers, Cam |
#82kipper_snifferdoo_02Aug 03, 2005 22:16:56 | Bravo Nived! Bravo! Heh, it's nice to see SoS is being so well recieved. :D |
#83daedavias_dupAug 03, 2005 22:39:44 | Truly amazing tale, Nived! I want my copy NOW! I can't wait until Friday. I wish I lived near the Illinois and Wisconsin border. The mention of a surprise guest in Chapter Six has me frothing at the mouth! |
#84NivedAug 03, 2005 22:57:48 | Take your time! Don't blow through the module too quickly. I'm still working on part three. Believe me I don't want to rush through it but demands were made. Partially because my group tends to halt game from mid September to mid November since our weekends become a blur of running a haunted house... game will slow to a crawl and they wanted some DL goodness now. Still I too am concerned with the speed... but Stormwrack might provide some diversion in the blood sea. |
#85frostdawnAug 04, 2005 8:40:14 | You lucky little punk, I have to wait until the end of the week for my game store to get my copy in! :P *stammer* well, um, I guess all I can say is 'nyah!' :D Just kiddin Daedavias, I'm sure you'll be well rewarded for your patience. The book is great so far, and there is ALOT of material to cover. This is a seriously thick module (and some areas have small print in order to cram all the content goodness in). Great job guys. I can't wait to discover what the big secret for chapter 6 is... edit- okay, I couldn't stand the suspense, and looked over chapter 6. Damn dude, want... to .... post..... spoiler..... graaaah! Very nice work, all around. Now back to work guys, I can't wait to see how this ends in PoC! :D |
#86zombiegleemaxAug 04, 2005 10:02:06 | So the 3rd part will be out next year? |

You know, after all of this suspense I am probably going to flip straight to Chapter Six and see what all the fuss is about. Thanks a lot guys, you may not have actually dropped a spoiler, but you did spoil the ending for me vicariously. :P |
#88themindAug 04, 2005 17:48:05 | I really enjoyed the module as well. Cam you did a fine job, and Kipper did a good job with maps. All in all a great adventure. Oh and I really enjoyed the SPOILER in Chapter 6. Pure genious. |
#89zombiegleemaxAug 06, 2005 17:05:50 | The module arrived yesterday to my local shop. Looks great, hope it was worth the wait. Should I play it out slow and add many side treks for my players? I need to know in order to plan out the course of the campaign. |
