Jul 04, 2005 4:39:38 I am running a Dark Sun Game and I am using the Soul Knife from the Expanded Psionics Handbook, and so far everything seems to be working just fine. The character did not originate on Athas, so as to whether or not more of the bae class shall be found, I have no idea. Seeing as how I am running a game that is leading into the City by the Silt Sea setting, the planar gate is allowing me to import all sorts of stuff normally not seen on Athas.

I do understand the hesitation for the class though, since Athas is a metal poor world, and even economically poor, so someone that can manufacture (psionically) their own weapon does not have the financial dependance that other characters have when it comes to attaining and replacing weapons.

Same with the monk. I depend more on character concept though in my games. If someone can give me a believable and well thought out reason that they should be allowed to play a monk, I am willing to overlook the "no monks" rule.

In other words, look at both classes (the XPH and the DS Prestige class), and simply choose whichever works better for your game...

Actually, Athas.prg has a PrC version of the soulknife that, in my opinion, is better than either. Athas Online has the same material (for some reason I can't get into the athas.org stuff at the moment), just follow this link.

Athas Online is the personal site of Jon, Oracle of Athas, and since he makes the PrCs in the PrC Appendix products, its normal he uses some of his own stuff for athas.org.

Jul 04, 2005 15:59:40 My own site is used quite a bit for material in development. So checking in once and a while might give you a preview of some of the stuff to come. Once stuff is released officially, I simply link to the athas.org version to avoid redundancy issues.

I dont disagree with you that its better.

I’ve noticed that really the only difference between the Core Soulknife and the DS3 PrC is you get all the powers in 10 levels which doesn’t bother me but I noticed that the BAB if good instead of average. I personally prefer it as a PrC I was just wondering if anyone has play tested both the core and the prc in the DS3 setting and had any input on it.

Cool cant wait untill you have some feedback on that.

I guess you do lose out on 4 feats with the weapon focus and what not.

I guess my real concern is the fighter BAB I think its a bit much but would like to have some playtested feedback.
