Cantrips and Spell casting
by ErikAt my table I use the following rules for Cantrips and Spell casting
1) For Cantrips I use the 0-Level Spell Supplements from Basic Fantasy RPG
2) I use what I call "Permanently Known Spells" these are spells that the character can always cast, but must sacrifice another memorized spell (of any level) to cast. These spells are Read Magic and Detect Magic for Magic Users, and Cure Light Wounds and Light (regular versions only, not reversed) for Clerics.
3) I give bonus spells for High Intelligence or Wisdom +1=1/0, +2=2/0, +3=2/1
4) I give Magic Users (Only.. Not elves) the ability to memorize two(2) extra 1st level spells starting at first level.
