Cypresscrest
by WingofCootCypresscrest is a Pixie stronghold, equivalent to a keep/small castle in human terms, placed in the upper branches of a truly enormous cypress tree over a thousand years old (120 feet tall, branches span 140 feet, trunk 20 feet in diameter) which stands by a broad, slow, shallow river.
The buildings, built to a Pixie scale, are woven into the branches of the tree much like squirrel nests - but far more elegant and neat.
The buildings include a central hall, two storehouses, and a dozen small dwellings and sheds. The population of the stronghold is 80 pixies.
Defenses: The stronghold will not be immediately visible to most passing through the area; the density of the tree's branches means that the buildings are not easily seen from ground level, and living epiphytes, such as ball moss and bromeliads, are encouraged to grow around the buildings, thus further weaving them into - and disguising them as part of - the greenery of the great tree.
The tree itself is protected from fire by an enchantment similar to a permanent form of the Resist Fire spell.
There are 10 pixies on guard at all times, and the full population can be roused to defend the tree if there is a major threat.
