Other Fey Strongholds

by OneEyedZeal

Jadescale Rock
A stronghold on a tiny volcanic island just off the coast of the Five Shires. Once a dragon’s lair, it’s been claimed for the past two generations by a clan of wooddrakes, who cleverly guard the few narrow and secluded beaches that might serve as landing spots for mortals and plan various deceptions to make it seem like the absent dragon has returned once more.

Ichorthorn Thicket
A wood imp stronghold in the wilderness of northeastern Darokin, an overgrown maze of brambles, briars, venom, wasps and malice. The reigning tyrant-monarch cheerfully loathes everyone around him, whether they be human, elf, dwarf, goblin, faefolk or his own subjects, and sponsors various and sundry petty intrigues to increase the general misery of the region.

Mirrordrift Hall
A pooka-owned stronghold, behind a waterfall cave well inland on the island of Hattias. Various trickeries, illusions, ruses and even a spot of time-bending magic combine to insure that anyone not explicitly invited to court finds themselves approaching the stronghold entrance multiple times in succession without ever once finding their way inside.

The Starplinth
A centaur stronghold in the hills of northwestern Karameikos, consisting of a fallen meteor atop a hill that the centaurs consider a holy altar as well as the surrounding ranges. The centaurs long had a truce with the surrounding humanoid tribes, whose shamans held the site in similar reverence, but the last shaman of that heritage passed away several years ago, and tensions and strife have grown ever since. The centaurs are doing what they can to prepare defenses and seek allies in case of all-out war.

This is probably as far as I'm going to take these writeups for now, hopefully they've proven intriguing!
