Other rules volume 2.
Construction costs and time required.
The costs shown are for raw materials such as quarried stone and timber.they do not include transportation or labor. All costs are stated in gold pieces. When the raw material source, usually quarry and forest ,are not within the hex of construction, the following costs must be added on per five miles hex.
Extra costs due to transport.
Type of hex. | Transport / 5 miles. |
Clear hex. | + 10% |
Woods hex. | + 30% |
Swamp hex. | + 800% |
Hills hex. | + 20% |
Mountains hex. | + 40% |
Large river. | + 40% |
Laborer type and equivalence.
Laborers must be hired and paid during construction time. The limit of on-site laborers is 1500 plus 1500 support workers. Some types of laborer ,because of their unique strength and endurance are counted as several men using the following chart.
Laborer type | Laborer equivalence |
Normal laborer | 1 man |
Giant | 25 men |
Elephant | 15 men |
Draft horse | 1/2 man |
Dragon | 25 men |
Zombies | 2 men |
Support worker | 1/2 man |
Djinn | 25 men ( 50 if wood ) |
Dwarves | 1/2 man ( 2 if stone ) |
Hobbit | 1/2 man ( 2 if earth ) |
Time to construct formula.
Gp cost divided by 600 = number of weeks for 100 men.(for example a 30,000 gp tower would take 100 men 50 weeks to construct, 200 men 25 weeks , 800 men 7 weeks to construct).Winter doubles construction time. One engineer is required for every 100,000 gp spent on a project.Roud fractional weeks upwards.
Road construction costs.
Road cost per mile | Clear terrain | Wooded | Swamp or mountain |
Paved 6' wide ( 1.80 meter ) | 100-1000 | 200-2000 | 300-3000 |
Gravel 4' wide | 100-600 | 200-1200 | 300-1800 |
Dirt 4' wide | 10-100 | 20-200 | 50-500 |
Bridges construction costs.
Stone : 600 + 200/20' increment.
Wood : 200 + 50/20' increment up to 1200' max.
Traps construction costs.
Trap type. | Cost. | Possible targets. |
Small trap | 2 gp | Wolves ,racoons,squirrels. |
Medium trap | 4 gp | Tigers, apes,men,bears. |
Large trap | 10 gp | Ogres,giants,Dragons (- 1% chance/trap). |
Smials construction costs : Gnome or hobbit home.
Size of the smial | Cost |
Small. | 200 gp; |
Medium. | 500 gp. |
Large. | 800 gp. |
Mansion. | 2000 gp. |
Talan construction costs : elven tree home.
Building such a place requires a charm plant spell to be cast. Then the wood buildings can be added. The cost is the following one : Cost of the wooden building + cost for having a charm plant casted + 100 gp per tree ( trees are 30' apart in forest ).Trees will then cover to hide from below or above. Stairs extra...
Pits and Tunneling costs : they are always given for a 20' section
Size of the tunnel. | Through earth*. | Through stone. | Length /day /# of men ** |
8' . 3' | 2 gp | 4 gp | 10' |
8' . 5' | 5 gp | 10 gp | 20' |
10' . 10' | 10 gp | 25 gp | 30' |
10' . 20' | 20 gp | 50 gp | 40' |
* With wood reinforcements, stone seinforcement double cost.Dwarves and gnomes halve time required.Time increases if fewer than # of men required is used.
** for earth,10'/day stone.
