Description:
The pterosaur is the name given to a group of hollow-boned, flying and gliding reptiles. They have long beaks filled with numerous teeth, and reptilian arm structures with skin webbing which constitutes their wings. They are mostly extinct, but can usually be found in prehistoric areas.
Pterodactyls are batlike reptiles with wingspans of 8-10 feet. They hunt insects, birds, and small animals, gliding slowly along air currents to spot their prey. If driven by great hunger, they may attack human-sized creatures.
Pteranodons are much larger and more aggressive. They have a wingspan of up to 50'. They will often attack and carry off man-sized creatures.
Large pterosaurs have a wingspan of over 50 feet. If they attack with surprise, they will make a swoop attack for double damage. They can carry off Large-sized creatures.
Combat:
Improved Grab (Ex): If a pterodactyl hits a Tiny-sized or smaller target, the pterodactyl may carry off the foe with a successful grapple check. Grappled creatures take 1-3 points damage per round until a successful grapple check can be made.
Improved Grab (Ex): If a pteranodon hits a Medium-size or smaller target, the pteranodon may carry off its prey with a successful grapple check. Grappled creatures take 1d12 points of damage per round until a successful grapple check can be made.
Improved Grab (Ex): If a pterosaur hits a Large-sized or smaller creature in melee combat, the pterosaur may carry off the target with a successful grapple check. Grappled creatures are held in the pterosaur's beak, automatically taking 3d6 points of damage per round until a successful grapple check can be made.
