AD&D Revised Strength Table

by Jim Bobb

Tired of fighters with high exceptional strength being able to hit anything without a challenge and carry ungodly amounts of gear and treasure? In my AD&D campaign our group has removed exceptional strength and we now use the following table:

A Dwarf, Half-elf or Human Fighter (but NOT fighter sub-classes) is awarded +1 to Strength under the revised system, increasing the racial maximum for the character up to 19 (if an 18 Strength is rolled). Any reference to an exceptional strength can be considered a strength of 18 (if 18/01-50) or 19 (if 18/51-00) under the new system.
