Folk Horror Traladarans

by Marc Saindon

Halloween is upcoming. Now imagine running a campaign from a purely civilized Thyatian perspective, as you venture away from the safety of of Karameikan towns and venture into the countryside, where the Old Ways of the Traladarans hold sway, and weird rituals are conducted in the forest. Feral cultists of Zirchev howling in the night. The Iron Ring lurking. A touch of Ravenloft.

What would you run as a game?

This is less about having Ghouls, Goblins, Vampires and Hags as monsters running about, and more about twisting around Traladaran culture for a greater shock. Humans are the main focus.

Perhaps in this subsetting, Slashers (more medieval name needed) begin as humans but with each "ritual kill", the Slasher gains more power from supernatural taint, perhaps becoming a Ghoul, allowing a Traladaran Leatherface or Michael Myers to provide a greater challenge. Maybe Bargle is on that path, and Aleena is a first of many?
