For any Dungeons and Dragons or Mystaran websites that are currently on Geocities I am offering to host them on the Vaults of Pandius.

Is this a "passive" offer, or do you want people to go out and find Mystara websites that are on Geocities, so that you can try to contact their webmasters directly?

It's passive at the moment - I have already have the links page on the Vaults, so I know where a lot of the pages on the Vaults are. However I would like the webmasters of the individual pages to send those pages to me directly. That way they can send me their webpages directly, so I'm sure that I'm hosting everything they want hosted. Whereas if I download from Geocities I might not be sure I get everything properly, and I have to clean off all of the Geocities code on the pages.

As for getting in contact with webmasters, I've posted information here, on the Vaults, and on the Piazza. Hounding webmasters directly is a last resort.

Fair enough. That policy makes a great deal of sense. I used something similar to Geocities once (the old Bravenet) and they put a ton of funky HTML into my code and also put all my HTML into ALLCAPS. I had to recover one of my own websites from the Internet once and it took me days to tidy up my own code. I think the new Bravenet is a lot better, but haven't actually used them.

I suppose that hounding webmasters directly also runs the risk of making yourself (or VoP as a whole) look like you are spamming Mystara webmasters.

The only thing that worries me, is that Geocities have a weird habbit of randomly deleting individual pages within their less active websites. I remember spotting a couple of "unloved" Spelljammer websites that were starting to unzip themselves. Luckily someone out there had taken an offline copy of them (for reasons unknown to me) and they managed to get it sent over to Beyond the Moons' similar relocation project.

Anyhoo, it is great to know that you are interested in looking after these "rival" Mystara websites and that they can hopefully be copied over to your own website and remain available to fans.
