Armour House Rules

by Håvard

We were talking over at Dragonsfoot about Armor made from different metals when I thought about combining that with Effective Dex Penalties.

Armor limits how effectively you can benefit from your dexterity to defend yourself, but armor made from more exotic metals makes that easier.

Armor type Common Material Mithril Elemental Dragon-- Infernal/Celestial
Leather---- -----3---------- N/A--- - N/A --- ---N/A-- ---N/A---------
Chain------- -----2----------- 3----- ---3----- ---3--- -----3----------
Scale*------- -----1----------- 2----- --3------ ----3--- -----3---------
Plate------- -----0------------ 1----- --2------ ----3-- ------3----------
Suit Armor** -----(-1)--------- -0----- - 1------ 2 3

*Includes Brigandine, Ethengar Lamellar, Aquatic Elf Shell Armor etc.
**Custom Made only

I am also thinking that armors made from superior metals can make it possible for classes that arent normally allowed to wear that armor to use them. So a Thief may wear a Mithril Chainmail, an Elemental Scale Mail, a Draconic Platemail or even an Infernal Suit Armor.
